Rockliff was mouthing off on twitter 2 years back when the first exodus happened, despite the fact that he too had fielded genuine offers to head back to Victoria. The fact they face another exodus says everything about his leadership.

Barrett says and writes a lot of shit. He's like Titus O'Reilly if he wasn't trying to be funny. Just get a shitload of content out there and eventually something you say will be correct/popular/funny, and the stuff that the average punter shares around will be the good stuff, not the enormous amount of stuff you said which missed the mark.

The real story in this is Rockliff's incredibly childish reaction. Can you imagine Travis Boak doing that? Joel Selwood? Luke Hodge? That, combined with the news of another wave of players who wont be at Brisbane next season, and the club culture appears absolutely shot from the outside. Zero leadership.
I could easily picture a certain captain get really getting a get like this if anyone in the media dared to criticise his club.

Is this a captain that has been known to get really a get on twitter in the past?

I guess the difference is that Walker is more of a "duh duh" idiot instead of a petulant child idiot.

I feel like Walker would be a rallying influence. If he was at our club, he wouldn't be captain because we've got a few better choices, but he'd be the sort of guy that people would rally behind because he'd do the right things by the club and his teammates. You just don't get that impression with Rockliff or Brisbane.

Brisbane should be a good place to be in an AFL team.
The winter weather poos all over the southern states; they only have to compete with the Broncos and the Reds for attention; and there is excellent entertainment within easy reach.

The fact that they cannot retain players is an indictment on the club. Fancy telling Jed Adcock, a loyal servant and ex-captain, to GAGF:oops:

Did Adelaide torch the Perth Wildcats to sign Australian guard Hugh Greenwood? Just walked out on a 3 year deal after one training session to chase his AFL dream. Adelaide said to be his destination.

Click bait to gain followers. Short term gain, long term pain.

When I think of Cyril I remember him yucken it up with Mark Williams doing the choke thing.
Do you mean the 18yo kid in his first season who had played about 5 games and was good-naturedly hanging shit on Williams for making an utter tool of himself and copping heaps of shit from Clarkson and the team leadership after the game?

I remember that.

ONLY the Broncos.....LOL!
Imagine Collingwood being the only team in Melbourne, Crows alone in SA or WCE...well you get the idea, and you will get an idea of that club.

That's why the Adelaide Rams players had such high profiles here back in the 90's because they only had to compete with the Crows.

I know how big the Broncos are. And the Reds. My point is that they're third banana.
As opposed to GWS, for example, who have 9 NRL clubs, the Waratahs and the Swans competing for attention.

Who is doing better at retaining required players?

They have no excuse for player retention, weather and lifestyle comments were correct. I agree with you there.

It may have changed since I lived in Brisvegas (90's) but the Brions don't even make it to banana status.

To some players that level of anonymity would be a selling point.

the one with the financial advantage and backing of the afl

That aside it should be the perfect fit for players who just want to play and don't like the limelight. Not every player wants to be mobbed in the street. Even with those a (still sizable) minority, that should get them players wanting in when you combine with the winter weather. I'd take living in Brisbane over Sydney or Melbourne.

So no culture problems at the Lions, in your opinion?

Speaking of bananas, they're about to go up to $15/kilo again. Fungal infection will see crops destroyed. :(

Lachie Henderson making a bid to be this year's Daniel Gorringe, with Paddy Dangerfield in the Ryder position.

Over-rated player at struggling club throws dummy spit, expects his nominated destination club to do everything to get him, when every man and his dog can see that they have much bigger fish to fry.

Except now trading of future picks is permitted..

This along with their pursuit of young gun cricketer Alex Keath potentially making the code swap in 2 years time is pretty interesting, why develop your own elite talent when you can just pinch them from another sport under the unlisted free agent rule?
