I don't see what the advantage would be to associate with a club that shut down/folded anyway.

I guess to try and +1 over Port? Even though they can't claim that history as their own

Well there is #portenvy and their older 'customers' tend to believe, in a very over-simplified way, that the Crows 'own' the SANFL heritage in a broad sense. It's the sort of tripe Stupid would bang on about until he believed it too :drunk: Yes they absolutely can try to claim that history because #biglie. See Donald Trump. Twits who could believe that sort of tenuously link are already cowpats. Not sure it's going to matter to or confuse any kids, new immigrants to SA or suchlike.

As I have posted previously in this thread when a Crows supporter tried to claim the original AFC's heritage, on that logic I have played for two NFL teams and am currently married to a pop star.

I think this board owes the crows an apology after lambasting them for a significant portion of last season for celebrating their '25th year' rather than their '25th anniversary'

Soundwave's shut down as well. I might put on a BBQ in Bonython Park, hook up an ipod, sell beers for $57 a pop and call it Soundwave. Bound to be a winner.

It pains me to say that you are right.

IIRC a lot of the comments were having a go at them saying it was 25 years ago......

If you recall the opening game, against Hawthorn, it was as if they were celebrating their 25th Anniverary.

What will be of interest is if AA follow through on their promise that they will have a weekly segment of "where are they now" for our 20th season like they did for the Crows.

I'm hoping this is the right thread for this but I was just thinking the other night when I heard the news break that Garry Lyon will be stepping down from the Footy Show, and I thought this could be there last chance to save the show from it's rapid downward spiral into extinction and if they completely revamped the line up it could actually return to being a really good show. A big Thursday night live on free to air footy show is a good concept but it has got really stale, so why don't they take this chance to start again. I'm assuming Brayshaw, Newman, Crawford and co have contracts in place for this season, so it might have to wait until next year but I would be all for getting rid of the lot, they've become boring, unfunny and rarely talk about 'actual footy'.

They need to get in some footy nerds that just want to talk football and then if they still want a comedy aspect to it get someone a lot funnier than Dave Hughes & Shane Crawford for starters.

I also think our very own Warren Tredrea would make a good panellist or even host and is already a member of the 9 team.

Just a question, why cant you bump in a ruck contest?
It is treated the same as a shepherd or a block.

Law 15.4.5 (f) A Field Umpire shall award a free kick against a player who makes prohibited contact with an opposition player by unduly pushing, bumping, holding or blocking whilst contesting a bounce, throw up or boundary throw in.

Menzel apparently has been told to train with the forwards as his running is not up to standard to train with the midfielders.

It seems the earlier reports were correct.

Shame... Kid has a lot of ability.

White knight helps Hird pay ASADA legal bill
AN UNKNOWN third party has paid the court costs that James Hird owed to ASADA after his failed cases over the past two years.

The revelation came on the opening day of a Supreme Court hearing in which Hird is attempting to force Essendon's insurer Chubb Insurance to help pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal costs.

...

With ASADA's costs reportedly totalling about $750,000, their absence more than halves the overall amount Hird is seeking from the insurer to almost $700,000.

The AFC have been stealing other clubs' heritage since 1990.

This is funny.... how are they going to fill in the gap from 1886 to 1986 till now, and with what are they going to fill it with? I wonder what their members must thinking about this....

Is this confirmation and or an acknowledgement that we have been one club since day dot for us.....?

Its a conspiracy i tell ya....
