Won't lose sleep if our rivals are Premiers??? WOW!!! If Freo are Premiers, I know my Eagles mates will be absolutely fuming. Manchester United fans were angry when Liverpool won the EPL and Arsenal fans were crying when Tottenham won the Europa League.
Lol ok champ

Keep fighting the good fight

Shame no caps lock this time though!

A Port fan not caring if Crows win the Premiership? OMFG! You'll never hear Eagles fans not caring if Freo win the Premiership. When Freo lost the 2013 Grand Final to Hawthorn, my Eagles mates were celebrating more than they did when West Coast won Premierships. I'm starting to think this fanbase wasn't celebrating the 2017 Grand Final when Crows lost to Richmond. Seriously this fanbase...

You seem obsessed with the eagles mate you should support them, they’re on the Up!

THE INCREASING length of games and the future of the bounce will be the first agenda items for the AFL's new executive general manager of football performance, Greg Swann, after he started in his new role on Monday.
Swann said he had worked through "about 43 pages" of inquiries from clubs upon starting in his new role at League headquarters, but said the majority related to shortening quarter lengths and throwing the ball up at centre bounces.
Having arrived after a successful 26-year stint in roles at Collingwood, Carlton and most recently Brisbane, Swann said there were ways to reduce quarter lengths without actually shortening terms from 20 minutes each.

Previously I have posted that between 2018 and 2024, and even removing 2020 covid 17 game season, both calculations rounded shows that on average;

18th - 3 wins
17th - 3 wins
16th - 6 wins
15th - 7 wins
14th - 9 wins

Currently its 18th WCE - 1 win, 17th Norf 4.5 wins, 16th Rich 5 wins, 15th StK 5 wins, 14th Ess 6 wins.

WCE being so bad has helped Norf being above average.

I think if we loose all last 5 games, Carlton is the only relatively easy one, we will avoid finishing bottom 4 and probably 5th bottom.

You can’t let it bother you like that mate. If they win a flag I will be more upset with port not making the most of its opportunities when it had them. The crows are just another team, and while I don’t want to see them win it, I will be happy for my friends who support them. Life’s too short and football is too outside of our control to let it bother you that much.

the AFL won't let the Crows make a GF, their fans are too old and won't travel as hard anymore, Brisbane and Collingwood would still bring in the most $$$ surely

I'm on board.

The most obvious way to reduce quarter lengths without reducing the amount of game time would be to drop the amount of time between goals. It's so long now. But that might mean less advertising revenue, so I don't the AFL signs off on it

You are not going to get rid of the 45 second break for TV ads and goal replay that 7 need to show to make ad revenue. I can accept the 45 seconds as a necessary evil. But I can't accept so much other wasted time by the officials.

I did the calculation at this post for Friday night's game about 20 minutes after the game ended
  • #1,981 24 goals were scored but the last one was after the siren so, 17.15 was lost due to TV time and a further 31.01 for other stoppages
As I wrote in this post the previous days listing several areas where time is wasted;
one of the worst time wasting incidents is that umpires are told the 45 seconds has finished - 30 for ads and 15 for 7 to show the goal replay, the umpires who are outside the large centre circle, some one says to them in their earpiece, you can bounce the ball, then they shake themselves and walk in slowly and set themselves to bounce the ball and another 15-20 seconds is wasted before the countdown clock starts up again. If they stuff up the bounce, they recall it and then throw it up wasting more time. That's maybe another 15-20 seconds

If you get rid of the centre bounce - you can talk to the centre umpire via the earpiece and count down how long before the the ad break finishes, ie 5,4, 3, 2, 1 and he/she can already be in the small circle and just throw the ball up and only a couple of seconds is lost. And there is no need to fix up a stuff up bounce.

But the worst is the ARC score review system, especially all the bad angles, and the multiple replays trying to see if a pinkie moves 1.257mm backwards touching the ball as it goes thru the goals.

The ARC should only be used for goal line touches, check to see if the ball hit the post, or for a howler by the goal umpire.

Does this table have an explanation?

In the last 3 drafts Brisbane have drafted 3 father sons - 2022, pick 2 Will Ashcroft, 12 Jaspa Fletcher and 2024 pick 5 Levi Aschroft. That adds up to 19.

I did a list after Friday night's game of their 1st round picks between 2014-2024, so that's why I'm so aware of those 3 father son picks.

Brisbane's Average FS pick is 23.75 for 4 picks = 95 in total, so was the other FS pick 76??

Who went pick 76 as a FS for Brisbane? The last player drafted at pick 76 was in 2018 and Brisbane didn't have pick 76 between 2014-2018 drafts. So have they added numbers to the rookie drafted players?

How is FS Game % Diff calculated.

Found this on Saturday if anyone wants a resource link. Wasn't sure where to put it but given it covers every AFL player including those taken in the 2025 mid season draft, the general thread is as good a place as anywhere.

Zero Hanger have listed ever player by cm from 211 (Mate Colina, Mason Cox) down to 168 (Isaiah Dudley)

We could have had a similar thing for weight if the AFL didn't piss its pants about AFLW players and weight issues.

Anyone been following Tredders and noticed his spruiking of crypto scam, Stormrake?
Is it just me, or does its name and branding have a particularly ‘right’ feel to it?
