I like the new suns logo but it’s a bit weird that you can’t see it unless it’s a close up of the guernsey.

They just look like plain red guernseys. Which from a distance is as boring as a norwoood redlegs guernsey.

Why not go to 20 teams and have 2 @10 team divisions?
The 10 teams in each division play each other twice = 18 games.

The top 8 teams in each division play a finals series like now.

The grand finalists in division 2 get swapped with the last two teams in division 1 each year.

  • 18 x 10 = 180 games plus finals
  • gather round can just be one of those 18 rounds
  • if rivals are in different divisions then bad luck, they don't play each other twice, but it is a much cleaner option and not simply $ driven

- but boo hoo
{ Anzac Day Collingwood vs Essendon isn't guaranteed anymore }
{ Queens birthday game not guaranteed anymore }

  • Division 1 Grand Final played at the MCG
  • Division 2 Grand Final played at the home ground of the team finishing higher

- Teams play at each others grounds every year, unlike Eddie's idea or the current situation.

Perhaps this has been suggested already, but it doesn't line Collingwood's pockets and artificially boost their attendances like the current situation.

Under Eddie's idea, why not gear your season towards finishing low and getting good draft picks, but having your team in form from July onwards, why push hard all season, just win 5 or 6 games at the end.

I would go with 24 teams.

Gaslighting no one. Suns and Giants might have had better draft concessions on paper, but they didn’t have the benefit of raiding a local state league or hiding players away. History shows the concessions didn’t lead to any success whereas they did for Crows and Port.

Suns and Giants had massive retention issues in the early years and no doubt this played a role in the introduction of academies. Home grown talent will stay home.

You’ve come up with no counter arguments to Port and Crows attracting players like Dawson, Rankine, JHF and Lukosious home. What players that aren’t rejects aside from Daniel Rioli have the Suns and Giants lured?

I think you pointed out the Footscray prelim had to be the final straw for Hinkley and because it wasn’t it was the final straw for me. I vowed I was done until he was gone.

But you pick and choose arguments. Sydney and Brisbane have lured the likes of Lockett, Franklin, Neale and Daniher over the years. And they have the same Academies as GWS and Gold Coast. My issue is with the access to Academies in general, not any one Academy. And only in terms of inequity and you've already agreed the same rules should apply to all.

It's great that AFL players are being developed in non-traditional football states and let those clubs have a crack at the cream. But there has to be equality with other clubs as to the cost. Brisbane have of course had a charmed run with father-sons in recent years (like Geelong in the 2000s) that unbalances that situation even more.

Yes the SA clubs have lured some quality players here, but also a lot of dross, SA is hardly a destination state. And both clubs lose players too.

It's the end of this club if our rivals are Premiers this year. How can we attract players, fans and sponsors?

Looking at the fixture, I think it will be hard for the Dogs to make the 8. They'd have to win every game from here and hope either Fremantle or GWS drop games against some bottom 8 teams. Hawthorn have a very tough run so they could also stumble.

They’ll miss the 8 and be stuck with Bevo because they extended him way too early.
