Because you only want to go to one club and you don't want to be there to talk to other clubs as an option for the club trading you.
Then you make sure you’re here to make that happen.

Players are dumb.

I can only half feel sorry for Aleer.

25 games in 4 years, probably on $250k to $300k a year and someone stupidly offers you $700k a year and you tell all your teammates you are going.

That really is slack, greedy work by his manager to not be sceptical of St Kilda and say don't celebrate, until the deal is signed.

There was plenty of talk that Wilkie was pissed off, and that Saints would have to up their offer to him to keep him, then all the Silvagni talk and that he was going to be offered $800k and the big spending spree on De Koning that anyone with half a brain had to question if St Kilda could really deliver $700k.

I don't blame Aleer for saying yeah I'll take that as only being offered $400k or so, but a reality check would have been why are they offering me so much and can they really afford it.

As wrote elsewhere its no longer the silly season, its turned into moron month.

Why would you go on holiday during trade period if you are up,for trade?
It’s not like he was being shopped around, he’d already done the medical and agreed to join the club that had been chasing him for two years. If GWS were asking for a first rounder or something huge, you’d understand not trading but even then, you’d still expect the Saints to just grab him in the draft. This is honestly one of the biggest dog acts a club has pulled in a long time.

I read that Essendon’s new president has been attending draftee interviews. That club just doesn’t get it.

One thing Eddie got right at Collingwood was getting all the groupies away from the football department.

Is he just a stand in while they conduct a comprehensive worldwide search? Maybe he's just practicing for whatever future role he might get there.

Lol every essendon president should consider the role transitory.

It literally fell through and him being here could have made a difference if he spoke to people etc. it was genuinely stupid.

Adelaide Crows desperate and just throwing blind darts now.

You should see all the 'Who says no' trade hypotheticals from crom supporters that involve this year and next year's first round picks and Butts (as if he's Harris Andrews) that land them Day and Ah Chee :tearsofjoy:

Apologies if this has been posted earlier but JFC 😂😂😂😂

These are great and old mate Soli is no orphan among the crom in throwing up hypotheticals like this.

Ah Chee, Day AND a future second.

No one says no because no one can stop laughing

Apart from the Crows needing to give up a lot more than that, I don’t think the Hawks need another key defender lol.

Not even for Box Hill which is where Butts belongs

When you make a player publicly announce he’s coming to your club that is not on the player in the slightest. Odd you think he should’ve been sitting at home waiting.

Brisbane making Adelaide waste the whole trade period on Ah Chee is warming the cockles of me cold black heart.
Hes not even a player they need lol

No no no you don't get it. All the previous board member meddling that has led to 25 years in the wilderness was bad, but this time board member meddling will be good.

Essendon have member control of their board and they still can't get this right after 20 years.

Any negotiations you are a part of, especially one where it is your sole income, and you decide to go on holiday at negotiation and contracting time, you almost deserve it to fall through. Regardless of technology.

Can you? Of course.
Should you? Clearly not.

The Sydney Swans have reportedly told midfielder Oliver Florent to explore his trade options, as the club becomes determined to land Carlton key forward Charlie Curnow with a blockbuster trade proposal. However, Sydney will face an uphill battle, according to AFL Media's Cal Twomey, as Florent is content on staying at the club with which he signed a five-year contract extension in 2024. It's a contract that take the 27-year-old through the 2029 season.
