It was free on PC. Microsoft forced Valve to charge for the update even though they didn't want to.

Unless it's a game or episodic content Valve don't force you to pay for anything. I think the 360 was a Microsoft thing not a Valve thing.

Yeah Microsoft have terms with regards to DLC that there can only be a certain amount of free DLC (think it might be one pack), anything else has to be charged for.

Bastion had the same issue, so did RDR.

Finally got round to finishing the Co-op today. Eh, not quite as good as the single player which was beyond superb in my eyes. Still, a nice little tack-on.
