Welcome. As others have said, this isn't a great year for stockpiling picks. Where I think the value lies in draft picks this year is that Bris, Syd, GWS all will likely want more picks to pay for their academy and F/S selections. It's players on their fringes we should look at to bolster our list. Mitchell and Jetta (Swans), Lamb, Wilson, Hampton (GWS), Mayes and Aish (BL). These guys may be gettable and fill instant holes in our list.

Yep - also what about Tom Jonas ? He's a Norwood boy surely he fells dirty playing in the prison bars guernsey.
Why has he fallen out of favour ? I recall he was quite good, is it because Hombsch is having a good year ?

Judd is a different build and a lot lighter than Wines. Is physics not a strong point of yours? If you have two strong forces moving in opposite directions and a weak joint trying to join the two and stop momentum it stands to reason it wont be strong enough. Try and keep up! It may take a long time to heal. Thats all. It may also never come good.
tall skinny guys would more likely have ongoing problems if you want to use physics as logic.

Longer lever, skinnier joint will be harder to control at the joint than a shoer arm with stocky build surrounding it. The strength of the surrounding muscles is an advantage not a problemm, you don't dislocate your shoulder because your muscles pull to hear, its an external force that the muscles/ligaments can't control

I wasn't aware Kane Cornes was our football manager.

So how do Freo afford $700k for Dixon? How do Hawthorn manage to keep their list together & add AA defenders to their squad? How do Sydney seem to sign massive contracts every year? How did Geelong keep everyone together? Our squad/our salary cap is no different to theirs and we'd have no more issues than anyone else, and yet Geelong can offer massive deals to Dangerfield & Henderson, whilst attracting Caddy and Clark in the last 2 years (yes I realise their retirements coming up). Hawthorn add Frawley to their squad whilst losing noone of note. How could you have offered Cameron a $800k 7 year contract last year knowing that Dangerfield, Walker, Sloane, Laird et al were out of contract and wanting to keep them all?

Not that it really matters but you say goodbye to Cornes, Butcher, Logan (still getting a senior salary) and probably Moore and bang, theres over $1m of cap space right there. Add Carlile to the vets list, delist Mitchell, one of Redden & Shaw and theres another $3-400k of cap space. Next year we have Boak, Gray & Westhoff as vet eligible, theres another $360k of cap space. Monfries & Schulz likely gone, theres another $800k. Not to mention the salary cap keeps growing. Its not stagnant or getting smaller.

So yes, we may need to lose a fringe player or maybe two to fit him in. Who's more likely to win Port a premiership? Dixon or someone like Andrew Moore or Aaron Young? I know who I'd be choosing.
Comparing Hawthorn and Geelong to interstate clubs in stupid.

We all have to pay more to keep players than they do. How do Freo have the money ?? Ask the question how many genuine stars have they got that command huge coin ?? -Mundy, Sandi and Pav would be it, with Fyfes next deal to be a monster. With us id imagine the Tippett money would be spent although we would be tight.

You guys are already tight for cap space and you think you can fit a guy who wants 750K whilst re-signing your 2 best young stars in 12 months.

Good luck.

Tall, quick KPF....Mmmmmm!!!

Alex Keath: A 196cm Murray Bushrangers forward with outstanding speed for his size. Talented key position prospect with a great work ethic, and doesn't stop presenting. Quality leader who captain the Victorian under-17s cricket team and has been selected in the Australian World Cup under-19s squad. Current AIS/AFL Academy squad member.

And it gets even better....

http://www.bordermail.com.au/story/46528/rising-stars-weigh-up-a-sporting-chance/

Alex Keath has been blessed. Such is his talent that, if he chooses to concentrate on football, the Murray Bushrangers star could be on an AFL list in just a few months’ time.

Similarly, if he was to concentrate on a career in whites, he could eventually play cricket for Victoria and perhaps even Australia.

But before long Keath, 17, will have to choose between the two.

The reality is, no one can juggle two sports at the elite level — the days of Max Walker (who played 94 VFL games with Melbourne and 34 Tests for Australia) are over in this professional era.

Keath, a Shepparton product who plays football with the Bushrangers in the TAC Cup and boards at Melbourne Grammar, simply has to decide between two great loves.

The affable year 11 student knows it won’t be easy, but right now he is simply trying to enjoy the little time remaining where he can play both.

“I love playing both and I’ll continue to do so until I’m forced to choose,” he said recently.

“I’ve just finished footy season and now I’m getting into pre-season cricket training, but if an opportunity presents itself then I’d have to think about it pretty hard.”

Keath the cricketer is a batting all-rounder, last year’s Victorian under-17 captain and a junior with so much promise that Cricket Australia included him in its 31-player squad picked to prepare for next year’s Under-19 World Cup in Kenya.

He has also been selected in Australia’s under-19 team to face Sri Lanka next month.

Keath the footballer is just as exciting.

The 197cm, 82kg centre-half forward has shone at every level since starting his junior career at the Shepparton Bears.

The AIS-AFL graduate has dominated at TAC Cup level, shone at this year’s under-18 national championships and is being chased hard by the Gold Coast as it embarks on selecting a dozen of the best 17-year-olds in the country.

Last month, the blond superstar-in-waiting flew to Carrara to meet with Gold Coast officials but the Hawthorn supporter remains tight-lipped about his thoughts on moving north to begin what would no doubt be a successful AFL journey.

Why play in the SANFL for 3 years when he could probably be in the Australian Cricket team in 6 months? ;)

Maybe even next week if he knows how to leave a wide outswinger. :D:cry:
