But he is seriously considering his football options as well, with the likelihood of signing on with an AFL club but continuing to pursue cricket in the summer.

I'd like this just for the novelty factor of cheering on a guy for both the Redbacks and the Crows.

I wasn't aware Kane Cornes was our football manager.

So how do Freo afford $700k for Dixon? How do Hawthorn manage to keep their list together & add AA defenders to their squad? How do Sydney seem to sign massive contracts every year? How did Geelong keep everyone together? Our squad/our salary cap is no different to theirs and we'd have no more issues than anyone else, and yet Geelong can offer massive deals to Dangerfield & Henderson, whilst attracting Caddy and Clark in the last 2 years (yes I realise their retirements coming up). Hawthorn add Frawley to their squad whilst losing noone of note. How could you have offered Cameron a $800k 7 year contract last year knowing that Dangerfield, Walker, Sloane, Laird et al were out of contract and wanting to keep them all?

Not that it really matters but you say goodbye to Cornes, Butcher, Logan (still getting a senior salary) and probably Moore and bang, theres over $1m of cap space right there. Add Carlile to the vets list, delist Mitchell, one of Redden & Shaw and theres another $3-400k of cap space. Next year we have Boak, Gray & Westhoff as vet eligible, theres another $360k of cap space. Monfries & Schulz likely gone, theres another $800k. Not to mention the salary cap keeps growing. Its not stagnant or getting smaller.

So yes, we may need to lose a fringe player or maybe two to fit him in. Who's more likely to win Port a premiership? Dixon or someone like Andrew Moore or Aaron Young? I know who I'd be choosing.
Can you please become our list manager.

What everyone's thoughts on what we'd have to realistically give up for scharenburg? Hendo and our second has been floated but considering I'd be happy for that probably means that collingwood wouldn't, I think if we are going to offer our first id want Broomhead aswell, as it stands we'll have pick 10, so shaz and Broomhead for pick 10 ish, thoughts??

Do you really think the Pies list management would be that stupid, not a chance in hell they'd come at that scenario. If Scharenberg francs his form with more quality games like last week pick 10 alone would not land him let alone Broomhead as well.

Pick 10 for Scharenberg is MASSIVE overs.

2 serious injuries and one game of AFL. I didn't even think he played overly well. One great spoil.

I compare it to the O'Rourke trade. He played about 20 games over 2 seasons and sustained a couple of injuries. He was pick 2. Traded to the Hawks for pick 19 (and a 3 position swap of picks in the 40s).

The Polec trade would be another to consider. Pick 5. Brisbane didn't acquire any picks for a player that spent a lot of time injured. They moved up the draft 7 positions in two rounds.

Scharenburg was pick 6 and has only played 1 AFL game which I didn't think was overly impressive. I think a pick in the 16-24 range is fair. Hendo reduces that pick to maybe 19-27.

While Henderson's value to us is limited, maybe he would be worth more to others considering he's rated as a best 22 player by our coaches and constantly gets selected.

I'd hope we could trade him out for more than just a slight pick upgrade.

True, I have no idea what adding him to the trade does.

If it's true that he wants to go back to VIC I think you just take what you can get.

He supposedly went to Collingwood for a medical when he was thinking about being traded a year or so ago. No idea if they'd still have any interest though.

I hope we don't do a straight swap of pick 10, and why would we for an ooc player who has had two very serious injuries especially if he nominates us, I do agree if he does show something in the final part of the season it might change but it would have to be better than last weeks game..

Yeah, we'll see if he really does want to come home....your forgetting it's Collingwood we are dealing with though.

He'll be a star. Absolutely nothing surer in the world.

I'd honestly be happy to pay up 10 for Schara - as long as we're getting another lower pick back. He wil be a star.

I saw that too. Looked disinterested, barely cracked a smile.
He's from the Mackay/Wright School of Happy

Jamie Elliott another student.

Nothing to take from Hendo singing the song, he had a channel 7 camera pointed at his face, that changes the way people behave, especially for an introverted player like Hendo. Pretty sure he signed a 2 year deal last year as well.

Yeah doubt he's a fan of cameras in the rooms.
