I don't see Redden as a player of need.
The crows will be looking at Redden. All the other players mentioned in this thread too. If they are not they are not doing their job!

I bang on about it a lot, but the bottom 7 or so players in our 22 are not that great - we can use class players anywhere on the field.

(I would have said half the team was not that good at the start of the season, but Laird, Lynch, Jenkins, Cameron have really come on).

Guys like Lyons, Grigg, Kerridge, CEY and Atkins are all on the borderline of our best 22, trapped behind guys like Danger, Thompson, B.Crouch and Sloane.

I can see us being willing to part with 1 or 2 of them. I'd suggest Lyons would be most likely to perhaps leave of those guys.

Not sure I'd be trading any of our surplus inside mids...
Danger is good as gone and Thommo is close to finished....
Wright and VB should have 12 months max....
Dougo is knocking on the door of 30... B.Crouch cant get on the park...

Things can turn quickly in football. I remember Rendell copping grief for picking up " Another' KPP in Talia... Thank goodness he did..

Id be keeping Kerridge, Grigg, lyons and CEY to go with the Crouch boys and Sloane...
Opportunities will come

If we lose Danger then bringing in a proven AFL quality mid is the right move.

A lot of people have been talking about trading out our excess inside mids, but maybe we could reinvent them like WB have done with M.Boyd.

We said it last year and it didn't happen but this year the club needs to be super aggressive during the draft/FA/trade. If we have another cheney/Lowden bust year the club will be going nowhere. To make up for Trigg/Reid FU the club needs to find 3 new players who can be consistent 1st 22 players in 2016, with 1 of the 3 being a top 12 player.

Let's see if Noble can finally live up to his over inflated reputation.

Not Nobles job anymore thankfully, it's Justin Reid's, Noble may have some input as Head of Football, but no longer his direct responsibility.

General question, but thought I'd at least try and get one opinion by replying to a post.

If our 2nd rounder is 29 and someone like Lyons wants out, what pick could we expect to get in return if we packaged them up. Would it get us really early in the 2nd or even late in the first. If the premier has an ageing midfield and saw Lyons as having a spot, could we get 18 for Lyons and our 2nd? I find it hard to judge the value of players against moving up draft spots. But I think it's what we need to do to shed some depth in favour of presumed higher end talent.

Very hard to say. The AFL's new points system, introduced for Academy and Father/Son bidding could be used as a guide... maybe.

I'm going to assume that Lyons' value on his own is a mid-3rd round selection. You can argue that it's higher, but the fact is that he's been in the system as long as he has and still hasn't cemented a permanent place in the side. I may even be overestimating his value. Let's assume he's worth pick #45, which equates to 347 points (it makes the maths easier).

Pick #29 alone is worth 653pts.

The cumulative points value is thus 1000pts. That equates to pick #17-18.

I don't know if any recruitment manager would sign off on that deal. It's based on some fairly rubbery assumptions, but it's the best answer I can give you at the present point in time.
