Cannot see the appeal of Murdoch. He's 24 next season and isn't an upgrade on our players around that same age, who most on here see as trade bait.







If we're getting a player in the trade we really have to push for Gregson or Cockatoo.

Murdoch is more suitable than gregson ....Charlie Cameron is our gregson , we need a guy who's got some speed on outside , size and ability to play half back / wing and help to prevent a repeat of that semi final against hawthorn

People who are setting there sights in Bennell should probably adjust there expectation

The strong feeling is that if there is a WA club that shows interest that he will return home to add some family structure to his life

Lyon talked this week about using his Brownlow medalist next year to play more forward to add some much needing scoring power and my reading on this is that this could happen if they add Bennell to their midfield mix.

If a WA club shows interest I just cant see him going anywhere else

I'm not sure anyone will be happy when this deal falls, I think even talk of two first rounders is fantasy. On a sidenote, one of my friends is in real estate in Geelong and says Mackay, VB and Wright have gone thirds in a house near Skilled Stadium.

Why are B-graders (Murdoch), potential B-graders (Gregson) or D graders (Horlin-Smith) even being considered?

We're trading a top 5 player in the AFL, we should only be thinking 1st round picks and A-graders or potential A-graders (Cockatoo). 2nd round picks and B-graders are not worth it.

If a Player on a Club’s Rookie List is 23 years old or older as at 31 December immediately following the most recent National Draft Selection Meeting, and that Player has previously played a Home and Away Match or Finals Series Match, any amount he is paid in excess of the 1st year third round draft selection Player payment will be included in the Club’s Total Player Payments.

So we would save $64K of his salary, the remaining $336K in included in TPP.

But if he was on the rookie list, he'd be replaced by a new draftee - earning $64K base salary.

So, in effect, zero saving.

Although pussies win this, the compo pick is not wasted and a player/pick trade weighted our way goes ahead.
Dunstall argued against the trade side of it and draft fixing but everyone else agreed precedent has been set in past and Afl would sign off on something similar.

Not ideal for Crows but imo this will be similar to how it ends up. If crows match, compo pick 14 is lost.

Omg Geelong get a superstar and maintain their first round draft picks. Get stuffed Kingy. Daylight robbery. Cats must be weakened. It's a trade not FA if we match.

Terrible comparisons. He plays different positions to those guys and offers completely different style to those players. May as well compare Charlie with M.Crouch.

Look at the finalists for GOTY this year. Its short but a good start.

But on Murda, he just re-signed a new deal this year. He bought a house in Geelong and moved in with his girlfriend and appears to be very happy there.
Im not saying it wont happen, but they are several major obstacles that have recently indicated he's more stable than likely to move.
