I'm not claiming to speak for anything, I am speaking from experience. The posting patterns and reactions are pretty predictable.

And you are claiming insight that I just don't think you have or have ever demonstrated. It's just a bit of lazy characterisation from the sidelines to make a point where you can't get any evidence to support your agenda

So by all means keep claiming what you like but it's a baseless claim. That's all

Anyway, time to move on

Putting aside Brian Lake's age, ability and body of work, the man is one of the world's great dickheads. Not just the AFL's, the world's. I have not spoken to a player or an official that actually likes him.

Hawks got him in to do a job, that was to fill a spot and help them win premierships. He did it, now he's on his way.

Seems fair. This has been said for years, without much counter claim to the contrary.

Or they are a well run football club?
Some would say cheating the cap and getting away with it is being a well run club. It's getting caught that makes you poor. There certainly can not be any doubt that Hawthorn have managed to do something creative over the last 10 years but simple fact is no one has managed to prove it so full marks to them.

As far as I know Hawks have not been investigated or charged with salary cap violations in the past. We on the other hand have been punished over the Tippett debacle.

I'm not sure what evidence would satisfy you. I don't have an alternate reality transportation device to show exactly how it would go so relying on past experience is all there is.

They did have some sort of business partnership with a property developer going at one point. A number of players, including Mitchell had a stake in an apartment building. Probably nothing too suss but I'm sure they got a decent deal and an even better interest rate.

Incorrect again

Well, making a big song and dance about signing two rookies to two year extensions on the rookie list is something new and never been done before, certainly not by Adelaide, especially since Kelly can't spend two more years on the rookie list, so I guess we'll see come draft day, when we use two live picks only.

We don't have to wait until draft day. Rookie nominations happens on October 30

True, and we would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for those meddling player agents.

Lets be honest, the AFL is so incompetent you would have to be Triggy level stupid or Hirdy level arrogant to get caught doing anything in the current environment.

Was that your tweet they were discussing on trade radio 10mins ago?

Yeah I had a crack at Cam Luke.

Nathan Brown suggested 9 and 28 for 5 but Cam Luke couldn't understand why that deal was better for the Saints.

Luke was just suggesting they blow 5 on Carlisle and 24 on Freeman meaning their first pick would be 42 in the draft where as with Nathan Brown's suggestion they get both of these players and have pick 28 in the draft.

I also think 9 is better than 15 + 18 in this draft because the top 10 are clear, then 11-16 is very even, lottery after that (or so I'm told anyway).

Exactly, we got caught. Melbourne Storm got caught years after the fact for running a second set of books, lost premierships into the bargain. They looked amazingly well run up until that point as well.

Ah ok. I had tuned in just as they mentioned your tweet and I thought "that handle sounds very familiar", but wasn't aware of the context of the discussion.

The language used varies a bit when it comes to the rookie contract announcements.

Charlie Cameron's announcement last year specifically stated that he was being upgraded:
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2014-07-17/cameron-signs-new-deal

Rory Laird's announcement (2013) did not:
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2013-08-13/promising-pair-commit-to-crows
Laird's announcement does comment on him being upgraded mid-season, as was Kelly in 2015.

The only announcement I can find regarding Hartigan's 2013 contract/upgrade is this:
http://www.afc.com.au/news/2013-10-30/crows-announce-further-list-changes
That announcement is dated post-trade period, so it's not exactly a mid-season announcement like the others. The AFC may have made another announcement before this, but it's not showing up in a quick Google search.

I've watched Jack Martin, and my thoughts are he's massively over rated.

My thoughts are that he's going to be a super star. How's that for over-rated? A full injury-free season and he'll be one of GCS top 5 players.

If he's available I'd give Pick 13 for him in an instant. He's 10 times the player Jed Anderson is. Super-quick. Skills. Can and will play through the midfield.

Barrett's sliding doors. If, Then.

http://www.afc.com.au/news/2013-10-30/rookie-defenders-earn-promotion is a link within the 2nd story about earning a promotion.

This actually shows something. Laird gets a new 2 year deal in August. In October, he earns promotion to the senior list. So for 2 months, there was uncertainty about where his position was.

Happily give 9 and 13 for him. Unfortunately that is one that definitely isn't going to happen.

So you quoted some random esoteric great minds that were happy with Gilham and Schoenmakers. the flip

We've got our share of crazies here, including those who think they speak for 8 years worth of board postings :p

You still have no basis for your assertions or drawing parallels from some hand picked hawthorn posters

What it all boils down to is "just trust me" and the answer is no to that.

Recruiting Lake was a master stroke and it needed to be because they paid a pretty high price at the time for a guy of that age.
Who hurt you sanders

using what they already had, how would *you* describe the risks?
that wasn't the question Sanders.

We are on the cusp of a break through, so quit with the modesty

If we can create a forumla to show why Lake + 27 for 41 + 21 = risk free we can sell it to the clubs because they will be able to adjust their trades to take into account the risk (that is movement away from risk free of the above Lake trade)

This could net us all one of those Nobel awards for mathmatics, if only i didn't do business math in year 11 and 12
