Pros:
The pressure from everyone for the 1st half of football.
Our midfield was dominant in the first half with Oliver, Tyson, Jones and Viney hardly touching the ball
Howe and Dunn again
Maynard
Aish's return
Callum Brown's first game of football
A semblance of a game plan for the first half. The problem with the game plan is it is based on high intensity and will only last for so long
Our ball movement in the first half (play on and fast moving with multiple targets).

Cons:
Our ball movement after 1/2 time. Reverted back to stagnant ball movement with first instinct to kick back or across at HB
Our midfield went missing after half-time. Oliver had 20 possessions after 1/2 time and ended up with 26 possessions (16 contested), 8 clearances, 5 score involvements and 4 I50's, ditto for Tyson 25 possessions, 16 contested and 5 clearances and Hunt off HB with 10 I50's.
Smith had a shocker. 7 kicks for 6 clangers and a turnover resulting in a goal
Langdon 4 kicks with 3 clangers and a dicky kick resulting in a turnover and goal
Adams poor disposal resulting in 2 direct turnovers and goals
Sidebottom's continued dicky little kicks out of defence, again resulting in a turnover and goal. These dicky across ground kicks have killed us all year
Goal leakage in junk time
Missed opportunity
Tyson is a plodder, they traded the draft pick that was Josh kelly for him too I think.. they'd have a crazy good midfield if you replaced Tyson with kelly

Nah, traded 2 for Tyson + 9 + pick in the 50s (which got us Hunt).

Effectively Kelly for Tyson + Salem + Hunt

Why are Melbourne supporters insistent on coming over to our board to defend the umpiring?

What are they trying to achieve other than stirring up trouble? I don't get it.

Well of course they'd think the umpiring was good. So would I if we got so many decisions going our way.

You mean apart from after half time today
We are not a top 2 or 3 team so we are going to have to come to terms with some inconsistencies.
Those tend to iron out once a large portion of the 22 have played a lot of footy together.
But tell me this, were you not at all excited or pleased by how they played in the first half?
Were you not at all pleased with how the performed against Freo over there with only one fit man on the bench?

At the start of the year we were playing ugly football. All I am saying is that we have seen glimpses of what Bucks is trying to do game plan wise over the past month it when the players get it right it is a good brand of football.

Do it consistently we make the 8.

I thought our game style was actually good and similar to the last few weeks. We are let down by poor ball use time and time again. Grundy, Sidebottom and Adams should be instructed to always kick the ball forward. Smith is too soft and not quick enough. Brown isn't ready. Melbourne killed us on the spread, our players get drawn to tackling the same guy allowing the next player to have heaps of space after the release handball. We have had a good month but I'm wary that port will smash us on the spread like they did last year at the MCG

Played well the first half, ran out of steam in the second. Umpiring stuffed us as well, but shouldn't have let ourselves get into that position in the first place with all the play we had up until half time.

But have to say God help us if Adams becomes our next captain. He would demoralise the rest of the team each game "leading" from the front with his atrocious kicking skills and turnovers. Anyone who in all serious thinks he is even an average kick needs their head read. He is really shocking.

Disagree, I think Gawn and Hogan are bigger misses structually than ours

Doesn't matter how important they are structurally, there is no way 2 players can outweight 4-5-6 clear best 22 players. When you're talking Elliott, Wells, Vacoe, Reid, Goldsack and arguably our best small defender in Sinclair there is no way the 2 outweighs that.

And I'm not suggesting injuries are why we lost.

Langdon. OMFG. I'll not be upset if I never see that lazy, laconic prick ever play again. Get some intensity FFS:mad:

Langdon is a lovely bloke (have chatted to him more than once) but I come away thinking "this guy has no killer instinct".......rightly or wrongly.

Speaking of laconic I was right behind that Shaz kick straight to a Melb player 20m away and he truly looked like he did not give a f*** as he was doing it. I know he has that sort of style but it looked really awful.

12 years of posting and I've never,

1. Bag a player of ours
2. Blame the umpires for a loss.

I'll do both in one hit.

The umpires r*ped us fair and square.

Josh Smith is fu<king terrible.

Yes, there were others too and yes, we shouldn't have relinquished that lead.

Very disappointed today... really needed to win this.

I'm not sure if it was a fitness or break issue, but we looked great when we spread and played quick in the first half. While they evened up the clearances we didn't seem to have the legs or energy to play quick in the second half. A lot of inboard kicks were to stationary targets with no clear overlap runners.

We looked great when we spread and played quick in the 2nd half. You've got to win the footy though to do it.

Tyson was easily the best midfielder on the ground today. Not sure what game you were watching

Yep...........gamestyle is certainly on the improve but decision making and turnovers get us every time. Even Wallace in his half time thing commented that every Melbourne goal came from a Collingwood turnover. Melbourne legit killed us in clearances in the 2nd half but that shouldn't have been enough.

Not negativity its the facts. We wont play finals this year, as per the prevoius 3 years. You happy with that, good on you, l am not......and are you a member who contributes to the club each year??

Why would you presume posters are happy that we won't play finals just because theyre not mindlessly ranting the same thing over and over?
