Had the umpiring been consistent today we would have won. That is not opinion, it is fact. In terms of today's game, to say the umpiring didn't make a difference today is moronic.

That said - it's swings and roundabouts, I don't think it was intentional on their behalf and we will get the good end of a similar stick every now and then.

We agree on consistency but it will never be consistent. It's Impossible. We also agree it swings. I did say today might of gone against us a bit but so many things we did as a team also cost us

2nd qtr, A player handballed to Degoey who hadnt even taken a step before he was tackled, absosute no prior, the ump couldnt blow his whistle quick enough to pay the free against, there were heaps like that, Melb players getting caught with the ball with prior, play onnnnnn

Ha ha! I thought he showed some glimpses of what others have seen -especially that mark from a kick in. But to be honest, Shaz had another underwhelming game. If Goldy and Varcoe are right I would drop Shaz and Langdon. He has a future but not an immediate one in our best 22 in my humble opinion.

Fair enough........although it is in my nature to be a smartarse I am not with you in this instance.

To be honest Shaz will prove you wrong..........our defence went to shit in the second half and that was on the coaches (umpires) IMO. I had another poster tell me Shaz copped three on him goals do you agree?

I rarely watch replays when we lose but I am interested in watching this one just for Scharenberg's input.

19 possessions and 4 score involvements is not bad in game 3........but stats aren't everything.

Which decision exactly are you most upset by?
The free kick on qrt time siren was a free kick as was the Greenwood holding the ball at the end.
They seem to be the two that riled up the ponsford

There were multiple 50/50 moments that went Melbourne's way at crucial times. Even in the first term they got two of the very softest frees dead in front. One was a gentle hip hold that lasted a millisecond and the other (Watts arm chopping free) was deemed a shocker by the SEN panel. Dunn was clearly trying to punch the ball and made incidental contact with his forearm. This rule was brought in to stop deliberate hacking of a players arms-not tiggy touchwood rubbish like the one we saw today. If you want to argue that it was "technically" correct then I will ask why every time a defender reaches over the shoulder of an opponent to punch the pill or incidentally brushes his head or ear as he punches, this is not a free kick for high contact?

We then saw a series of contentious holding the ball decisions in the last term. Many were border line by the letter of the law types that I found to be a disgrace in such a tough, titanic contest. There was the play on call when Hunt won a free-everyone stopped, he ran over to pick up the ball and was then allowed to play on twenty metres ahead of the mark. His crap kick was the only thing that stopped another certain goal from a shocking umpiring call. To round it off we saw Treloar lay the perfect tackle and Hunt(I think) failed to get a hand or foot to the pill which was dropped to the ground. It was the most blatant holding the ball of the game and the ump simply called play on.

Huddo on SEN said he would be incensed if he was a Collingwood fan and he believed it had a big influence on the outcome. Check my posts. I don't believe I have ever mentioned umpires in my 2000 odd postings on this forum before tonight. They didn't "cheat" but the majority of their howlers or 50/50s went the way of Melbourne and in a tight clash, that hurts.

David King Giving the Dees Credit coming back in the Game as they Did but in the last 5-10 Minutes we where coming home Hard and looked to Pinch the Game.

The Scumps did everything possible to stop us and they Did

Let's not bitch about the umpires guys. Our team is pissweak. Bottom six material.
The Umpiring was shit.
Opening thread with a please "lets not talk about the shit umpiring" is pointless, pissing in the AFL's pocket and exactly what they would like to hear.
Both umps should be sacked. Gillan is a shill and should get the arse asap too. Done nothing but farc up the game since he took the helm.
That said we made some idiotic errors and gifted the Dee's several goals.

That in no way excuses the w***ers with the whistles.

Tim Watson should be shot into the sun.

I am sure we would have won if we had been the better team. You can't blame the umpires.

Kirby should have played ahead Brown and Ramsay should have played over Smith or Langdon. Brown didn't offer anything up forward and pushed around easily in the contest. Both Langdon and Smith are poor defensively aren't damaging enough offensively and slow.

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Spotted Kirby grabbing a burger and a coke just after half time. Think he needs more hugs.

Should have been close to over by half time but wasn't. At least now our club has its endeavor back. Were a chance every week no matter who our opponent is. Thats been lacking for 3-4 years

I hate collingwood and love seeing them lose but melbourne got kissed on the dick by the umps

Nah that's a load of rubbish and you know it. Just because Collingwood supporters boo the loudest doesn't mean they're being hard done by. Most frees Melbourne got were there, most frees Collingwood didnt get weren't. There were a couple missed each way but the carry on from the pies supporters is down right embarrassing.

The better team won, that's all there is to it. Petracca and Watts the two best on the ground, Sidebottom good early but faded.

Either you have deleted the offending posts or I am have missed them. Seems a tame thread to me given we lost to an ordinary team. Haven't seen the game cos I was teaching at a Cambodian school while the game was in progress. However the comments in this thread have dissuaded me from downloading the game. Looks like Bucks and others should still be moved on despite what has transpired in prior weeks.

That would be a big mistake. Most commentators are calling it the game of the year. If for no other reason that being a fan of our beautiful game, I suggest you watch it. It contained everything you could wish for-quick, electrifying ball movement, ferocious pressure/tackling, spectacular marking (Howe was sensational) and acts of great courage-Lynden Dunn's run with the flight of the ball was magnificent.

you're right, 6 years is pretty slow
It is.
And if you look at my posts from last year and the start of this year I wanted Bucks to be sacked immediately. No waiting for the end of the year.

From what I have seen in the past 5 weeks I was wrong.
I'm not going to keep insisting we sack him out of pure stubborness.
You're right it has taken a hell of a long time, but I am just happy that I am starting to see things which makes me feel much more optimistic about our team going forward.

If we lose the next 3 games I will once again be baying for blood, but at the moment I doubt that will happen. I honestly think we will make the 8.

Why would Anthony Hudson say he would be furious if he was a Pie fan? I'd like you to explain this mad Geelong supporter's motivation for making such a comment.

Someone should tell Tim Watson the campaigner the rules. If you are being tackled and the ball becomes dislodged from the palm but you manage to hit it away with the other fist, it's bloody HTB. That non-decision was another one that cost us a goal. Mind you moments earlier De Goey had the ball for 0.5 second, was tackled and penalised. I'm rarely one to complain about the umpires but I've never been so outraged watching a game before.

I really aren't having an issue with your argument because I think you kinda see it my way. Today sucked. We were on the wrong side of decisions but I just find the umpiring bashing that has ruined this entire thread so tiresome.

I never ever blame the umpires !
Because they make mistakes and one team will always leave the field feeling hard done by.

For every umpiring decision we didn't like I can equally find things we stuffed up as a team.
Therefor blaming the umps is a lazy way out and so much focus on it here .
I doubt Buckley spends 5 mins on the umoires tomorrow. But he will fill a 15 minute review tape on our errors.

Why are Melbourne supporters insistent on coming over to our board to defend the umpiring?

What are they trying to achieve other than stirring up trouble? I don't get it.

Because the are Dead Set Trolls. That want to get Banned

"Tim Watson should be shot into the sun."...... his son was shot-up a fair bit, according to asada? (sorry...bad taste i know)

Plenty of neutral supporters and commentators have agreed Melbourne got a massive leg-up. But I suppose they're all wrong as well, and your completely unbiased opinion isn't?
