I can't be ****ed reading this thread as I'm too pissed off. But josh smith cost us at least 3 goals from turnovers.

He was ****ing deplorable today - and if Ramma got dropped for his poor showing last week (deserved), then Smith should hit the bloody pine when we get back from the bye.

I guarantee that if Smith was dropped after playing a good game last week in favour of Ramsay there would have been an outcry in here. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Guarantee all you want but the people on here worth paying attention to would have been all in favour of Smith being left to his own device - being an unaccountable but neat kicking accumulating link from half back while Ramsey plays on Garlett with Aish missing out.

But that's just too sensible for our current coach.

Normally I would agree with this. Normally I find the umpire bashing or blaming cringe worthy.
Not today. I mentioned it in another thread and I will repeat it here. It was the first time in my life where I have watched a game and honestly believed there was some cheating going on. I am not using it as an excuse for the loss, despite the fact that it was the main reason we lost. I am just saying that there was a clear bias in the umpiring today.
No coincidence it's being mentioned in nearly every post, given the abnormal nature of the umpires adjudication a today and the severe effect it has on our season.

Refuse to dwell on the negative. Loved the endeavour of Broomy and Aish today.

Dwell on the negatives, bc they will cost us a finals appearance, 4 years straight. But we will sign Bucks for another year, not trade for a key forward, not solve our defensive issues, continue to pay Mayne $400k a year, while he plays against Coburg next year, and sit 13th and beyond on the ladder again for another year. Thats why next year if no changes are made, l will buy a Storm membership, rather then a Collingwood one.

I think Scharenberg has footy smarts, but i worry his physical attributes will be exposed in the back half the way the game is played now. Scahrenberg will need to be brilliant with the ball to stay in the team, he wanst that today, but was a kind of 5 out of 10 game from him. Had a few kicked on him.

Langdon, despite what morons around here think, has great athletic abilities and is actually quick and very good one on one defensively. All in all, the way Smith played today, our back half was always gonna struggle. Still i think the setup we had today is worth persisting with.

I think you judge Scharenberg very harsh.........by the way how many " few" did he have kicked on him?

His kicking was abysmal today.......I won't hang him.....but he owes us because his performance for a leader was sub standard today.......I am sure he knows that.
Agree. He will know. Was at the point when I just though Oh Sh-t when he got the ball on the break in the last few minutes. Just wanted a kick to 15m out rather than have him try to hit De Goey surrounded by Demons

In all seriousness, other than the second quarter we didn't play very good at all. The first quarter was close, but we didn't make the most of our opportunities and gave away a few ridiculous turn overs in the back half, otherwise could've been up by more.

After half time we looked absolutely spent. That was magnified by the pace of sheep dog Garlett and also in particular Hunt. Pace is something we were severely lacking at times.

We didn't look like scoring in the second half. When we did it almost came out of nowhere half of the time. We were gone the entire half. There were about 3 ridiculous calls in the last few minutes which really got to me, but other than that, we lost that game on effort.

I'm not sure if it's Melbourne's bye or what the story was, but the effort we were putting in during the second quarter couldn't be sustained. If Petracca and co were hitting their shots we could have easily lost by 4 goals.

I do agree Melbourne Play well more then we did

Yeah he had a stinker G C and I am ok with that........it happens. He needs to bridge the gap...........our skipper lowered his colours today also.......disappointing because if one of them performed today it would have negated the blatant cheating from the umpires.

I've never blamed umpires in my life for a loss but...

They can all go **** 'emselves

Rosebury, Stephens and Ryan...

Yeah, you went a bit early when you told me to shut up about the umpiring eh?

Agree. He can kick the ball reasonably but tries to bite off too much in important areas of the ground too often. Doesn't play the right %s given his skill level.

gotta disagree GC. he takes his right hand off the ball way to early and the ball rotates forward. he has a poor technique.

I thought Langers was ok......I would have left him on Petracca the whole game.......I think our coaching staff got that match up wrong.

As for Shazza apart from the kick that was short and got intercepted I thought he was OK.

Our defence is missing a "Sinclair" big time it is very unbalanced IMO.

We need to get Varcoe into the back half ASAP.

Goals from direct turnovers with no pressure cost us the game. Ongoing problem with Pies, we just don't take full advantage when we have all the acendancy. Then those cretins in fluoro just rubbed salt into our wounds. Can't remember the last time a crowd went bonkers after a game booing like that. I too had an epic melt that Clarko would have been proud of.

I'm not sure if it was a fitness or break issue, but we looked great when we spread and played quick in the first half. While they evened up the clearances we didn't seem to have the legs or energy to play quick in the second half. A lot of inboard kicks were to stationary targets with no clear overlap runners.

Aish is not soft.

First game back from the hardest contest of the year, and a fractured cheek. Plus multiple head over the ball contests tonight.

Of ALL the poor performances tonight, you single out Aish and Broomhead. ??
Not just today's game, but in general.......Broomhead, Aish WHE, & Phillips hear steps and are ineffective tacklers

Mate, he had a stinker today. However, he's a had a great season so far.

I love his hardness. Fantastic. its the obvious which is horrible.

I think he's kicked 1.7 this year. Doesn't matter how tough you are at the footy when you butcher it like he does.

I also think sides are ignoring him in our F50. They don't think he will kick goals which is why he is open so much in the forward line.

I thought the Greenwood decision was the correct call, but given the time in the game and the score I thought it was pretty stiff, especially given the one Hunt dropped was called play on

Knock yourself out,if it makes you feel any better.
Unfortunately for us it's the score at full time that is important, was our game to loose at half time....
As Bucks said-the siren went at the wrong time. I wouldn't be congratulating the opposition for outplaying us for one half when we outplayed them for the other. Okay-they snuck home. Good luck. Move on.
