I don't know if you sincerely believe what you're saying when you over-analyse and scrutinise the personalities of players you're not sold on. But from the outside looking in it just comes off as irrational hating to the point where if a player you don't rate even dares to breathe, it draws your ire.

So I thought I'd provide you with an example of what your critiques look like from afar:

I noticed this photo of Sheldrick standing by himself on team photo day. Maybe he is shy. But I think he is anti-social and has alienated himself from his teammates and that's why he hasn't been consistently picked in the 22 so far??

It was a little kid ffs. As I said I hope Hayward made up to the kid off camera. Why be mean to a little kid? You want every kid to have a great time and these sessions are hearts and minds exercises.

I was very, very careful not to say you hate Hayward. I said it comes off as though you are hating on players because you make sweeping judgments on their characters and you nit-pick their every mannerism or interaction whilst others that you rate happen to be beyond reproach.

It was clear as day that Hayward was joking around with those kids, so unless you suspect that Hayward, in broad daylight, right next to a microphone, with the camera on him, is in the business of bullying children, why even comment on it unless you want to breathe life into that notion?

It's a non-issue.

As a kid I idolised any professional sports person, especially footy players regardlessof what team they play for, he just wanted to be involvedin something he probably rarely if ever gets to opportunityto be involved in. If I had been turned away like that due to the club I support I would have felt very discouraged and a little embarrassed. I agree, that although it was done in a joking nature, the kid probably felt pretty shit afterwards and deserved an apology.

You're spot on, however it's not clear how the events finished.

Apparently Hayward has been spoken to by club management and has called the kid to apologise. He offered to make it up to the kid by giving him 1 on 1 goal kicking practice sessions but the kid said no thanks.

I had to rewatch it to work out what some on here are on about. Are we seriously getting upset about that tiny little interaction with the Carlton kid?

He will probably be traumatised for years.

Imagine the club calling the kid and their parents and asking for permission . They would probably think it was a prank call.

Typically you need to ask for permission to show someone's face on media, particularly if they're under 18. I don't think that's particularly controversial.

I am taking issue with the idea that the club would go and seek specific permission from that Carlton Kid and his parents to show that pointless 5 second interaction with Hayward.

With the inference being it is a really big deal. When it clearly wasn't.

There would probably be a sign up or some other notification about the fact it's an AFL team and people are filming.

FFS you get about 4 seconds of an interaction between Hayward and a kid yet you all will judge everything that happened between the two without a skerrick of evidence about what actually took place before and after.

Keep looking for something to be offended about. I'm sure you'll find something.
