Then in 2022 we adjusted. We'll adjust again.

The problem in 2022 was a lack of depth. We limped into the GF with a young team against the most experienced finals team ever seen. That lack of depth hit us even harder in 2023. I feel we've addressed that now

2022 he finally moved Mills to the midfield that was the difference

This has always been horse's weekness. Not adjusting quick enough

I think it's more that he has a plan and backs it in and is reluctant to change it until forced, which I half get. Got to show faith and back the players in.

I guess that's the point though - everyone has a different sense of humour, so who are we to judge Fox's joke?

You said it earlier , we are looking for things , guilty myself.

What i mean is play Adams as a fulltime mid or dont play him at all.

I hope we are just easing him into it.

He's been injured mate this is his first game back and he still played through the middle.

Problem is that the game is so agile, you need to be willing to change earlier than when forced
I know we see things that as supporters we might want to change, but most clubs would pay anything to have Horse as their coach. He's considered one of the greatest coaches of the modern era, (yes, despite not winning the very winnable 2016 GF the 2014 or the no-chance-in-hell 2022GF).

Changing player mindset is often the solution. Having faith in our game plan, our structures, our teammates and sticking to our guns is important. Changing too quickly can undermine confidence. Sometimes momentum is all between players' ears. It can take one spark to change the game around, such as a match defining tackle from Rowbottom. Sadly, it can work against us too if we get a series of dodgy umpiring calls that hands easy goals and momentum to our opposition.

It's always fine to criticise but I respectfully suggest Horse knows a thing or two. He's taken our team to the big dance more times than most, he's got us to the finals more times than any. He's rebuilt the team and the game plan a several times while doing all that. That's no fluke, no new coach bounce. Horse has ensured that as a club we continue to stay relevant. He's the main reason why the Swans are one of, if not the, most respected clubs in the competition.

I'm willing to trust he knows what he's doing, at least most of the time. He tends to admit if he makes a bad call

And let’s hope in 2024 he plays both Mills and Heeney in midfield! 🙏
It depends on needs, the opposition and what other mids we have available. Mills is a brilliant defender. Heeney's a briliant forward. That flexibility is key if we want to keep winning games. We need to get the mix right

Did anyone read the kelli underwood story before it was shut down about today's game . For years now I've been whinging about her constantly getting swans games. Easily the worst commentator in the afl and even had a petition to remove her. I'd love to know what the story was about and why it was quickly removed. This is not anything to do with her sex as I prefer isa guha in cricket over all other commentators. Kelli is just terrible!

Sorry to say mate but this midfield will crumble the same way it did in 2022 aside from Grundy who works tirelessly its the same core with the same deficiency.

Merrett walked it out last week, Reid and Yeo did today.
H2F, for the record, Merret played us the week before last, not last week.

What's this deficiency you speak of ? We added three players to our midfield over the off-season, Heeney's the leading contender for the Brownlow. Warner and Gulden are in great form. Grundy had a game high eight clearances on the weekend. Why is it we're still playing well now, not yet at full strength? Yet you say we're carrying a midfield deficiency that will it hit us later in 2024. What is the deficiency? When exactly do you expect it will hit us? Why do you think we'll crumble?

We seem to be matching it with some very good midfields this year. This weekend Grundy had a game high eight clearances. He's been a handy addition to our midfeild, as have Adams and Jordon. Even before Adams, Parker and Mills had played a game Dean Bilton (ABC) seemed to hold us in high regard. When he was raving about Port's midfield, he compared it with Melbourne's midfield, GWS' midfield and our own midfield.

"They are so electric, and complement each other so well. They're different to but in the same bracket as Petracca-Oliver-Viney, slightly closer in style to Heeney-Warner-Gulden and Green-Coniglio-Kelly".

Elliot Yeo is a different player. He's been a big part of a rejuvenated Eagles midfield, the only thing they're really doing right. AFL Nation’s Josh Jenkins' only question on our own midfield was how do we fit Adams in when Heeney, Gulden and Rowbottom are in such good form.

You've made a big prediction, but on what basis?

All I have gotten from these past few pages is that everything is BT's fault and he should be banned from commentating our games

And that is something I think we all can agree on

Still not quite sure why people are saying that 3 talls doesn't work. It does, and we aren't the only ones who think so.
Hogan, Cadman, Riccardi
Dixon, Marshall, Findlayson, Georgiades
Van Rooyen, Petty, Brown
If you have a team that transitions rebounds quickly then it is perfect for tall forwards. Obviously it depends on the quality of the talls as well as the pressure players around them, but it certainly does work.

I don’t think it’s a structural problem.

I just don’t think Armatey is good enough at present.

I am lowkey hoping for a wettish game to trial 2 talls and see how it goes

I dont know who likes roaming Brian, very cringe and he exudes a foul stench of arrogance imo. But channel 7 keep pumping up his segment as an amazing piece of television. I'd much rather some well thought out post game discussion than his obnoxious line of questioning.

it's all about taylor's ego ... like his brazen mispronunciations of players' names, with that attitude of "i don't care what everyone else thinks ... or what's right"
it's beyond cringeworthy, and a complete waste of time ...
there is almost nothing about taylor that is relevant to modern football

You keep talking about this in the context of Fox and Heeney whilst completely ignoring the girl involved who was clearly uncomfortable.

I agree about Isha she is fantastic . Underwood is a disgrace and really was a token appointment at the time , so hard to remove her now and you know why . There is another shocker coming through Jo Wotton , tries to hard with a shocking voice . This is not sexist as i hate BT, JB ,Darcy . Kath Loughlan is the best presenter on Fox and Abby Holmes is great on 7.
The interesting thing in cricket commentary in the woman's it all female ,but in the mens there's always 1 female .
