Hey guys, if you dont mind?

Monfries was drafted as a midfielder who could rest forward, but he has seemingly been pigeon holed as a forward.

He has done well providing an option when all our other forward options have gone awol.

He is usually productive but has not stood out in games until this year where he put in some vote catching performaces.

I think he is tradeable, dont think the club thinks the same as me.

IF we were to put him up, a first/second round pick would get the job done (providing it is Monfries for only a pick), otherwise a young up and coming midfielder plus lower pick may be an option.

I didn't pigeon-hole him as a forward I said that he has the ability to go there. He isn't bad (apart from the flopping) but would command too much in a trade situation.

Monfires does go forward at times but often switches into the midfield. ESS supporters that I've talked to have criticised the teams lack of midfield depth (similar problem to ours) but obviously they aren't being to hampered by it. Teams that generally have similar wants (both AFC and ESS want mids) often don't trade so I find it hard to believe Monfires would be on the table anyway. My gut tells me ESS aren't looking for KPP (unless Pears goes to GWS, it could happen) so if a trade was on the cards I think something relatively fair would be Vince + 3rd Pick = Monfires + 3rd pick or Taite Silverlock + 2nd pick (2012 draft). I'm not suggesting this deal is good for either side but I was going for value. IMO any deal with ESS (except for a player not in their 22) is unworkable because both sides seem to want similar things. If someone could think of some better suggestions I would be happy to hear them

TBH if we were going to trade for an established player I'd be much more interested in Colin Sylvia or Ryan Griffen. This isn't a knock on Monfires, he just isn't the sort of player that would really help us ATM. BTW how high to you rate Taite Silverlock? I'd be interested in hearing some ESS supporter perspectives. What do you think he is worth?

To be honest, I didnt read everything you posted. I was merely saying what he has been doing this year (and his career).

I agree, not sure Angus really has that much upside left in him to warrant a first/second round draft pick.

Really you guys would be looking for mids wouldn't you? Most trade senarios that we could come up with involve KKPs (this has also been affected with Davis going). Monfires would do well at Collingwood or Carlton were he would be able to play off others. He's not really the sort of mid that we need.

Have been hovering around the North board discussing a possible deal for Warren and their supports started to mention possible delistments. Do any of these guys interest anyone. Note that if they are talking delistments we probably wouldn't have to give up a lot for any of them:

Norris
Urquart
Daw
McKinley
Lower
Black
Anthony
Pratt
Scott
One of Delaney, Delaney, Tarrant, Grima.

White and Mullet would be level pegging.

you drafted him as a mid however he plays as a HF because he does not have the tank

not worthy of a 1st round pick

don't want, firstly because he stages too much for kicks and secondly we don't need another one paced player

you can keep

What about Gary Rohan from Sydney?

High draft pick who is a midfielder who brings great speed. Doesn't seem to be getting a game (regular or otherwise) ATM and I'm guessing is about to come off his rookie contract. Getting him via the PSD might be possible given our ladder position (not without risk of course).

Could we get in his ear and maybe score one back against the Swans for poaching Mattner?

I like it. This bloke is quick as and would be great on a wing for us.

Walker as Trade?? definately should be untouchable. We finally have talented forwards and his name has been brought up?? Oh dear. Davis loss is less if we had loss Walker...

Our small forwards situation is nowhere as adequate as people think. But mabey peple don't rate them as much as i do.

We're probably the last club you'd talk to if you're keen on a young up and coming midfielder. We could however work a deal on Brent Reilly; finished top 5 in our B&F last year, 150 game player :)

Just signed a new contract with us so he wont be going anywhere and he has only been missing games because of injury.

Rohan has huge wraps on him so it wouldn't make any sense for the Swans to move him either.

Would there be any love for Robin Nahas down Adelaide way ?
At his best there would be.

Although I don't see why we would trade for him, after him stringing a few really strong games together this year his value would have gone up and I really don't see that much potential to improve. It's his height + weight that is the biggest negative for me although that doesn't seem to hold him back when his at his best.

Who would you be wanting for Nahas anyways?

I realise with Davis going Talia would be almost impossible to move but if he was determined to head back, he would definately be high on the list with picks involved i should imagine.

McKernan or dangerfield if they were heading back, Would any of these players be possible come home material ?

David Ellard from the Blues goes alright. Wonder what his contract status is.

Unfortunately, you picked a pigheaded poster to base your judgement on. He was just trying to prove a point.

The players we are likely to delist are Rawlings (ret), Pratt, Mckinley and Lower. I expect we would also be open to trade offers for McIntosh, Garlett, Warren and possibly Urquhart.

Dangerfield for Nahas would work.

Dangerfield for Nahas are you Serious???? Geelong's 1st Rounder and Varcoe for Danger I rate him highly and if he wants to go Home Geelong would be the destination.

Interested.

Was taking the piss....

Hopefully we keep Danger beyond 2012 - however if he does express interest to leave I would prefer to trade him this year when we have all the leverage.

I think we would need to have the Ablett pick (i believe if used in 2011 - would be around pick 10-15 - but not sure) plus a player like Varcoe if Danger did confirm he wanted to leave.

I really have doubts about him becoming an elite midfielder, instead seeing him play the role that Roo played towards the end of his career. He will average about 3 quarters as a leading target out of the forward pocket and will also be used as a burst player in the middle.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You must be young. Croad was swapped for a number 1 draft pick (plus20,36) which was used on Luke Hodge....

Carr was a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick.

Tarrant was for Medhurst and a pick 8.

Throw in Des Headland. Pick 3 and 19.

Jesus, it's insane what they've given away there!

One a little bit out of left field - Aaron Davey?

I wouldn't mind Nahas, but he'd have to come cheap; swap of fringe player like Symes?

All of our trading, unless it's for a gun mid, should be mid-range stuff. We aren't anywhere near needing to top up and sell the farm to get a player who'll put us in contention.

If we can keep our current group together and load up on gun young mids for the next two drafts, we'll be looking good.

It'd be hard to take Davey away from Melbourne. They need him around for sure.

Nahas, I'd like to think we could get cheap, but I doubt it.

Totally agree with the last two paragraphs. I'd rather go hard at draft. Of course we might be forced into trading, but in that case I'd generally prefer draft picks.
