Not normally this tough when we win...

PotY
5 - Tippett - Top game. Great in the ruck, great up forward, great around the ground. Our best by far. Sexy man voice.
4 - Vince - Very good all day in the midfield. A lot of good in and under work
3 - Johncock - Love watching him play like that. Pretty dominant in defence. Great goal early.
2 - Goodwin - Got a hell of a lot of the pill, and used it fairly well.
1 - Otten - Very solid in defence. Liked his first half in particular. Some great grabs in defence.

Unlucky: Rutten was pretty good apart from that brainfade in the 4th. Bock got a shit ton of easy ball

BTM. Christ I don't know. Nobody showed much heart today
3 - Doughty - 8 tackles
2 - Stevens - a decent return after injury
1 - Douglas - A lot of people were giving him crap, but in the last quarter he was going at the ball harder than anyone. Makes too many mistakes, but his commitment is first rate.

Rookie
3 - Otten - Solid as a rock
2 - Cook - Pretty good second game, though I don't think he's quite ready.

Walker, Danger and Pets didn't do enough to deserve a point (though gametime was an issue)

POTY
5. Tippett - Dominant game from the big fella today. Paul Salmon at his prime like.
4. Bock - Rock in defence
3. Otten - Very good first half, at the rate he was going he was a monty for Rising Star nom.
2. Goodwin - Solid Captains game.
1. Griffin - Showed why when fit he is the club's best ruckman.

BTM
3. Vince - Must of had alot of center clearances
2. Tippett
1. Thompson - Seems to like playing against Melbourne;)

ROTY
3. Otten
2. Cook - One of the few blokes on the ground who showed consistantly clean skills, pity he wasn't on it for long enough.
1. Walker - Trying to set a record for posters in his first season!

POTY

5. Tippett - Magnificent fighting all round effort in what was a very forgettable game. Rucked well, fought for the ball on the ground, gave us a marking option up forward, tackled and kicked goals. Very complete game.

4. Goodwin - Classy game by the skipper who mopped up beautifully in defence and was one of the rare players on the ground who could actually hit a target.

3. Vince - our best mid-fielder who got a lot of it the hard way. Put his body fearlessly into the packs, tackled well and never stopped running. Terrific work rate by young Bernard.

2. Johncock - another whose work rate was beyond reproach. Fought well for the contested ball as well as providing a heap of run from defence, capped off by goaling on the run from one of those dashes. Right back to his best.

1. Otten - struggled with this spot, but finally gave it to young Otten who although he faded somewhat in the second half was right up there at half time with the very best. While I shuddered with some players when they got it in fear of their disposal, Otten like Goodwin used the ball really well from defence.

Best Team Man

3. Tippett - just had to be. See comments above.

2. Vince - again had to be in them. See comments above.

1. Edwards - like his game and work rate apart from that one shocking disposal in the last quarter which gifted a goal to the Dees. Tackled well and generally used the ball well.

ROOKIE

3. Otten - playing that back pocket as if he's been there for years. A Rising Star nom can't be too far away.

2. Cook - definitely looked a little more at home at this level and his work rate and hardness are beyond reproach. Disposal is gradually improving as well. Will genuinely be a player in time.

1. Dangerfield - Neil, please talk to young Pat and tell him to follow the KISS principle rather than try to be the next Ricciuto in his 6th game. Still did enough to earn a point.

Just on 2 players:

Bock - just couldn't bring myself to put Bock anywhere in the awards, although his general play was good. Most of his possessions were uncontested, and IMO he hung onto the ball far too long on most occasions resulting in hurried disposal to a contest rather than using it well.

Rutten - Another who got a swag of possessions but he is becoming slower than a turtle with arthritis. His decision making was lacking at times as well a la keeping that ball in rather than letting it go out in the last quarter - result was a goal that sparked the Dees' comeback. he's becoming a genuine worry.

POTY

5. Tippett - A shining light. Was great to see him on the lead in the last quarter and honored. He could be impossible to stop with that speed leap and reach.

4. Goodwin - Best game of the year for Goody, but he hasn't been speccy so far. His decision making stood out.

3. Vince - Bernard.....that is all.

2. Johncock - very very good early, faded a bit, but won his spot.

1. Edwrads - apart from a stupid turn over he was solid.

Best Team Man

3. Tippett - His effort > than everyone else....except those of us who stay the 4 quarters today.

2. Douglas - He was trying for the full game, unlike others. Mistakes or not, he was trying.

1. Rutten - Work hard to get back on his...AND OTHERS... opponants when they got through out poor zone.

ROOKIE

3. Otten - Finds the ball like it's tied to him.

2. Cook - effort was definately there.

1. Dangerfield - Made some blues, but tried to be influential.

POTY
5. Tippet: Played his heart out all game and presented around the forward line (what line). Rucked well and played his best game for the AFC so far imo.
4. Vince: Tackled and chased hard and generally disposed of the ball well. Although when the team plays so badly its hard to notice it.
3. Johncock: A general in defence along with Bock, played a top game and was our only player along with Bock who was really willing to take the game on.
2. Goodwin: Played rather well along the back line. Made few mistakes and took some good marks in trying conditions.
1: Otten: Reminds me of Scott Stevens in the way he plays, made a few poor decisions but other than that is very, very composed for such a young player.

BTM.
3.Thompson: Was in the bottom of the contests and tackled very hard all day.
2. Vince: Never stopped running and tried to set an example for the rest of the fellas out there.
1. Tippett: See above.

ROTY.
3. Otten: this kid is a real talent and looks like an excellent find.
2. Walker: presented well but needs to find the ball and kick those 50/50 ones. How many posters does he have? haha.
1. Cook: looks rather good. Just needs more time in the top level.

I was impressed with Cook. Didn't have a lot of it but chased hard, was willing to run and break the lines, thought he had a pretty decent game.

And Mackay only had 11 possessions, easily his lowest count of the year and lowest from his past 10 games. He just struggled to get any space today but encouragingly he did have 7 tackles, smashed his previous career high.
