Nicks will ride this club into another bottom 4 finish before he drops his pet Laird.

Lairds spot should probably be Bond's as we are probably missing a lockdown type there. There's plenty of rebound amongst Hinge/Nank/Woz/Michalanney/etc, we don't need a slow midget who doesn't defend or can't kick.

Same was said about every other player the board decided was public enemy number 1.

Nicks is smack bang in the middle of the bell curve when it comes to selections. Has a defined best 18 with the other 4 slowly evolving over time. Laird is someone who was trending to be out of the lineup in the back end of last year and not much seems to be changing. Bit like Smith last year. Injuries may play a role in keeping Laird in the best 22 for a few extra weeks, but it's hard to genuinely see him in the best 22 by the bye if Laird can't find form. That star just keeps fading.

Maybe there’s genuinely something with laird and hot weather, we’ve seen him play terribly twice before in warm weather.

I actually think Taylor is ahead of him too, but they’ve just decided to keep him home for the sanfl trial tomorrow. Easier to just send a senior player up there like Murphy when realistically neither are in round one anyway.
