Coaching/Gameplan/Strategy 80%

Home ground is built into strategy - the size the shape the conditions etc

Luck is 1% - St Kilda do everything right and the ball bounces the other way they have 2 flags - thats not 30% thats not 50% thats 1%

Playing group is part of the coaching etc - yes certain age demographics will perform better but unless they are taught a gameplan for it then it doesn matter how old - 10%

Execution - if you want to reduce the % on gameplan then this is the area you can do so - as noted above we didnt kick wide enough to force the ball out to eat up the clock - gameplan or execution? Or even playing group- did the person kicking out bottle it or reduce the margin of error of kicking down the line?

Really disagree here.

Only need to look at the difference between Clarkson at Hawthorn and Clarkson at North and Hardwick at Richmond and Hardwick at GC to see how they need to be separated.

Not really - its a matter of the list profiles each had - Hardwick had already been at Richmond 4? years and had bult he core of his list - he is yet to do so at GC ( they are my tip to rise this year)

Clarkson also had a 4 year wait building his list then the Hawks exploded big time

I'm not sure who is driving the list management at North but they seem so midfield heavy - now while I dont see North having the rise I see with GC - I do think they are 1 or 2 KPP away from going ok. Remember Clarkson drove his gameplan off of Roughy and Buddy

Yeah exactly - thats why they need to be separated.

Give Nicks his perfect list and he will still stuff it up. Give Hardwick a good list and he will win a flag. Thats coaching/gameplan.

I think when it comes to icing the game, there are two viable strategies.

One is to just focus on playing safe football, ensuring you have plenty of numbers behind the ball, trying to nullify contests, and hoping to take a mark so you can find another player and take time off the clock. This can work if your team is good in the stoppages, but it rarely seems to work for us.

The other is to proactively try to exploit the rules of the game, by setting up specifically to create repeat stoppages, having everyone come in to tackle/lay on top of everyone else even when your player has the ball, taking an extra few seconds to return the ball or delay proceedings every chance you get, etc. Collingwood excelled at the latter, Hawthorn used to be pretty damn good at it as well. Crows AFLW fans will remember the Bulldogs successfully using this strategy against us several times as well.

Look what I learned to do, recording & editing. Is it good or bad end result? I think it could use more pixels...

Also, was it a free to Pedlar if the tackle started on his arm, and then he pushed it up and flung his head back?

This is a good example of one of my bugbears.
I don't reckon first contact with the shoulder in an attempted tackle should be a free. Throwing the head back doesn't mean there has been contact with the head.

There are even better examples, where the tackler's arm goes over the shoulder, down towards the chest, on a falling player, with zero contact to the neck/head, and frees get paid. They should change the rules to allow this.
