I went and watched ER v SC today
I tipped SC to win BUT how wrong was I
ER looked sharp really quick ball movement whilst SC looked disinterested and slow.
To get beaten by 70 points on your home deck in round 1 alarm bells will be ringing SC will be very disappointed. Looks like the other games in premier went to script. NP putting up a great effort against Rowville
Berwick too good for SB
Going to watch Mitcham v Boronia tomorrow
Tipping Boronia to win

Just watched Video Vermont V DE time 38:33
Josh Schache gets a yellow card for a tackle …. What a joke. The Mitcham bloke should’ve got 8 weeks if Schache hit a yellow for that tackle.

What happened to Balwyn today? I heard a rumour (from a very good source) that there was a lot of money going on East Ringwood for +100. Anyone know what it was paying out?

Utter garbage. You can’t get a decent bet taken on a decent Sat metro race meet with corporate bookies. If you reckon they’re taking bulk coin on a ridiculous result in a random EFNL game then you need to stop hanging out with Elijah Hollands. Seriously.
Good old Noodles Magee probably never even heard of Polymarket, and bless his cotton socks for it :)

Oh snap you got me. A group of blokes has got together, pooled their massive reserve of Crypto and masterminded a plunge on a local game of footy. And if your “very good source” knows about it, why wouldn’t he have known the flucs? Was your deep throat ER or Balwyn? Who comes up with this s*** 🤪🤪

ABC - Four Corners exposed gambling on local sports a few years ago. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06...t-deals-football-australia-gambling/102445424 Whilst it only focused on soccer, the suggestion was that it was amateur sports as a whole. "Asked why punters would be interested in betting on amateur sport, Mr Kanitkar said it's simple: "If you can bet on something, people do."
I haven't been exposed to betting or know of betting at local footy.

Hearing whispers that Sam Weideman has been added to Footscray VFL list given the Dogs horrid run of injuries to key posts.

Doesn’t matter what the platform is - if you’re placing a bet there’s somebody on the other side of it. Be it a bookie or another punter. That’s what a bet is.

Hence why bets of any decent size on local footy aren’t going to happen.

Soccer is a bit different as there’s global betting syndicates that run purely on match data and stats and pump money into the market. There’s a demand there for it. Syndicates of significant size to lay bets aren’t operating on Australian rules footy.

His LinkedIn Profile has him as a Corporate Sales Lead at Western Bulldogs. Playing for them is a good possibility due to their injuries.

I’m already fascinated by the relegation race. It always looked to be so interesting this year with no obvious candidate.

South Croydon have a lot of quality this year, they have to improve… don’t they?

Vermont and Noble Park have never been out of the top division… could it actually happen this year?

Things like injuries would play a big part you’d think. Is anybody set to return from injury?

South Belgrave convincingly beating Noble Park last week suggests they might be a step ahead.

5 games in and only 2 teams can win the flag
East Ringwood or Rowville
You can forget Blackburn and Balwyn…..Donny East next 4 weeks Blackburn Balwyn Rowville East Ringwood will also see them bottom out
Relegation battle will be interesting Sth Croydon would be favourites with Noble a close 2nd having seen Belgrave Sth they’ll be ok
Berwick and Vermont in no man’s land

South Croydon definitely have a higher ceiling if they can hit their straps. They just look so far off it.

Noble are in a world of hurt long-term. Numbers poor, can’t recruit, terrible geographically, big gaps in juniors.

Disagree with your take on Berwick and Vermont. Both very young senior sides. Despite what everyone thinks about Berwick being in our league, I actually like what they are doing as a club.

Berwick have always been ambitious. They were (like Kilsyth) part of the push of the old vfa to the outer burbs and see themselves as a metro club not a country one. Agree they have been a fair addition, though they should’ve started in Div 1 like beacy.

As for a 2 horse race I can’t have that. East and rowville certainly early pacesetters but finals a different game. Last year ER ripped Blackburn apart early at Morton, only for the burners to knock them off at ER later in year then again in the finals…

I wouldn’t write Blackburn off yet. Donny east’s next few will tell on them. Noble I can see dropping

Berwick vs Noble Park shapes as a good contest. Berwick have been in every game and now add Jaxon Binns, while Noble could realistically be 0–6 by 5pm Saturday

You would think Balwyn will thump Sth Croydon and with Vermont playing Sth Belgrave, the picture at the bottom might be a bit clearer… if Sth Belgrave can get up, they put some distance between themselves and the bottom 2.
