After today Monash have played teams 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and dropped the Mazenod game. That said, means nothing if they can't put away the sides they share the middle of the ladder with. So current top 3 a lock, and the rest? Will know more post round 9! OB aside, bloody hard to put teams away in Premier B so will be super tight below top 3.

Round 6 tips

OB
Scotch
Monash
Fitzroy
AJAX

Bernards bus crash will worsen with back to back losses.

Weekly wrap up:
Old Brighton v Parkdale: OB steam rolling everyone. Looking forward to the clash v St Bernards this weekend. OB the new favourites for mine. Parkdale are pretty much where I assumed they would be: 8th-9th.
Fitzroy v AJAX: 2 evenly matched teams played a close game with Fitzroy coming from behind in the last. Neither of these teams are easy beats but at the same time aren't really contenders. I hope Fitzroy can put a few wins together and challenge for 4th spot come September (I know they currently sit 4th).
Old Carey v Peninsula: Finally! Good to see the panthers get up for Smithwick's 150th albeit against the winless Peninsula. Looked to be a pretty one sided affair and hopefully this can kick start their season. Early signs but looks like Peninsula are going to drop.
Mazenod v Old Scotch: Yet another slow start from Scotch. If they kicked straight, the game would have been over at half time. Scotch probably should have won by 60+ but they haven't really been able to put teams away this season. I think Mazenod and Parkdale will be fighting it out for the 2nd relegation spot.
St Bernards v Monash: Oh boy wowee. I did not see that coming. It looked like Bernards had a full outfit so well done the Monash! I was secretly hoping for one of the top 3 to lose this week. Gives hope to the rest of the teams. Monash have proven they can beat the best, they just need to beat the average.

You've jumped ship. You were all over the Panthers pre season. They have got their win and now look out, all will come together. Ressies won by 200 points against a very undermanned but determined Peninsula. Big turn around from being beaten by 200 last year.

I hear OC have lost 4-5 key players to long term injury, including a couple of knees. The twos players coming up would want to be very good players, sitting 1 and 4 with a Monash who look like clicking coming up. I also hear they were very ordinary against Parkdale, which seems to have continued in the first half this week. It will need 4 quarter to beat the Monash/Fitzroy/Mazenod, Ajax group, let alone the top 3. They will need to get a real run-on, and even at this early stage, hope some of the Monash,Fitzroy, Ajax crew trade results.I think they'll be just clear of the bottom two by season's end, but time will tell .I do concede that they seem to have sorted their twos situation which can only help their club long term, however you suspect they would want to head off the dreaded double drop to maintain this momentum.
I'm with Canada, i think that Monash plus the current top three will be the top four come season's end, with Ajax my other 4/5 spot even though they lost to Fitzroy as they will pick up wins against slower teams with their speed and desperation, as well as having a good home ground advantage

Carlton,
I love the Panthers...just ask Rooster, but yeah..unimpressive so far.
I hear Ashby did his knee and you lost 4-5 his to injury and suspension. Rice out for year? Not sure on this one.
Happy to be proven wrong, but trailing at half time against Peninsula at home is a very worrying sign.
Way off the pace.
Monash will defeat you comfortably next week if last week is anything to go by.
Currently Maplebet shows:
Monash Blues $1.30
Carey Panthers $3.15

1) Any interest in Fitzroy stealing 4th?

2) Great to see the OC 2s getting some wins on the board. It has been a LONG time.

3) The top 3 all play each other over the next 3 weeks. OB v Bernards this weekend, Bernards v Scotch the week after, and then Scotch v OB after that. Exciting times.

4) Injuries always take their toll on teams, which is why you can't rely on 3 or 4 players week in week out. This has been Carey's problem for a while. Hopefully they can get healthy as they do have a great list.

Old Scotch trailed at 3/4 time at home against Peninsula. They have some very good players - 8 and 12 come to mind, but obviously struggling with depth.

Not the start to the year OC would want and a few injuries but I'm sure every club has them. Hopefully the ones will continue to improve. The win was achieved with multiple players out for the game(which has happened every week so far) but we managed to run the game out and showed plenty of grit.
A huge push for depth and retention is finally paying dividends in the twos and the unders who are both going well. The unders have beaten uni blues twice already, which whilst Blues haven't got the team they may have had In refent years, has not happened in my memory of recent history. Congratulations to the hard working committee and coaches. Look for more 2s and unders to get opportunities in the ones.

8 and 12 are very good for Peninsula.

With 2nds and Unders doing very well so is the school team. Undefeated so far.

Yes, some interest in Fitzroy: this time last year they were 1-4, and missed the 4 waiting in the rooms at Parkdale after a round 18 win. So yes, interested in Fitzroy to make the 4.

Good post. I would hate to see Carey go down to C grade. Depth does look good. Go APS!
But I fancy the Ashers. They can be fearsome at the Frearson!

Round 6:
Old Brighton v St Bernards - Exciting. Old Brighton won't have it all their own way this week. I don't know about injuries but I expect it to be a flip of the coin tip. Bernards by 3 points.
Old Scotch v Parkdale - Last year Old Scotch beat Parkdale by 100 points and then lost by 2 points. Parkdale seem to be pretty much the same team so I'll take the average margin. Scotch by 50
Monash v Old Carey - Another coin flip. You would think that Monash have figured themselves out but they come up against a talented Carey who have got a win on the board. I think the Frearson will play a role in the Nashers getting the win. Monash by 19.
Mazenod v Fitzroy - Mazenod only stayed in the game last week from accurate kicking and inaccurate kicking by OS. Fitzroy need to win these games to finish 4th.
Peninsula v AJAX - I'm sorry but I think that Peninsula will remain on 0 wins after this round. Both teams struggle with their bottom 6 players, however the AJAX top 16 are better all round. AJAX by 28

All the home teams for me thanks Rissoles. Some great fixtures here in B. In the match of the round you have to take the form through Monash over the past 2 games and expect Brighton to win by plenty.
