a third of the way through the season and the top 4 in this comp is set. A real rat race for relegation already too! some classic 8 point games. looking forward to the next block of 6 games to see where sides sit.

Having seen the bottom 5 sides I think Ormond and Oakleigh were the weakest sides. So the two Os to go down for me .

Its not a matter of being a Mastermind" as you put it....its an observation and a view having watched the sides currently in the bottom 5 and their form.

The abuse of Mark Fine as the umpire in the 2nds game between Mazenod and Ormond got a decent run on SEN last night. Anyone listen in, and if so what are your thoughts?

Bedford, you can hear what Mark Fine and Stephen McBurney had to say at the following link:

Reference to the game starts at about the 4 minute mark.

Thanks Riss.

Thought Finey might have ripped the offenders a newy. He was actually quite measured.

Calling an umpire a “cheat” is unacceptable and weak. Pity the offenders weren't reported to the VAFA. Maybe someone from the VAFA will hear the broadcast and follow it up.

Ben Phibbs is a top fella and I'm sure he would have intervened had he been around.

Very, very disappointing from the Nodders.
I think they might be starting to get ahead of themselves, talking themselves up as a B Grade certainty next year.

It was nothing to do with their senior coach. The ressies coach kept mouthing off during the seniors as well.

Last week was umpire appreciation. Never seen a bigger collision between a player and an umpire. Oakleigh vs Peninsula. 3rd Quarter 23 minute mark.

Peninsula ruckman was suspended for 3 weeks. No malice but very very reckless. Listen to the collision, it was huge. Tough umpire to get up and continue. Anyone who says females aren't tough. Watch the video.

You got some grievance with the Nodders Mounzer? Exaggerating stories about recruits and now making up lies about them talking themselves up as a B Grade certainty next year? Sensing a pattern here.

Good to see you are doing the research for this week's game, Max.
Totally disagree that Nick Fisher was reckless, which means careless or irresponsible.
He just didn't see the umpire because his eyes were on the ball.
Still, umpire contact is there for a reason and he cops his TWO weeks, not three weeks.
And I agree, she is one tough cookie.

Can't agree with your comment regard the reckless. He ran from a long distance, he would have had to see if any players were in front of him. It wasn't as if the umpire changed directions. A lot worse than the Todd Curley incident. If he got Two, I'm wrong. Very very lucky to only get that penalty.

I'm not insinuating that Fisher is dirty, but protection of the umpire is paramount, and he failed in his obligations to the green team.

The video is very damming.

Max, you want to make a mountain out of a molehill, or an incitement for some other reason - go for your life.
You can cite all sorts of previous atrocities against umpires but in this instance we have video.
The fact is that the player ran into the umpire. The other fact is that he was first player to go up to the umpire to apologise afterwards.
I'll leave the footage to anyone who has played or been involved in football to observe the position of the umpire.
I also acknowledge the comments of the other umpire in his report and evidence which you may not have access to.

It was a horrid clash. I have no idea what you mean about umpires changing directions in this instance. It was very evident.

Very very lucky to get that penalty? Max, that's crap.

Any comment on the Mazenod's reserve coach's conduct, Brian?
Do I detect a familiar writing style with the "newby"? Let's hope this is not a forerunner to another dive to the bottom here.:(

Monders to break the drought this week. So all the home teams for me.

Actually a big fan Briiaaan. I try an get there most weeks but family commitments have held me back this year. Phibbs was a great appointment after the last **** up.
I'm actually closer to the mark with the recruits than you give me credit and you are the only person in the history of football to talk down the number of recruits.
But, the carry on described my Mark Fine is a disgrace and I think you should be more concerned about this than some comments on BF. Maybe your disregard shows a pattern of behaviour at Central Reserve....I don't know.
I could actually name the players in question but I'll refrain.

How about you name the five recruits for starters? You got two and named last year's best and fairest. Obviously didn't make it down there much last year. Three to go.
No disregard for Finey's comments at all. Another baseless comment from you. The matter was addressed by the senior coach and president during the week. It is taken very seriously, I can assure you of that.
Now name one occasion when the nodders have talked themselves up as certainties as being in B Grade next year. I bet you can't. No one getting ahead of themselves there. We are six games into a long season and winter is coming.

Riss

No mountains or molehills, no slight on the player, he was very apologetic, yes it was an accident, just making a comment on the incident rather than the people involved.

There is strict punishments for any umpire contact, accidental or otherwise, common sense prevailed at the tribunal this week.

Been hit several times myself over the last 25 years, usually my fault for not clearing a space, and not being aware of my surroundings.

PS

Glad the umpire is OK and should be running around this weekend.
