Mickey-Mac was also an extremely good coach too. Had the capacity to upset though.

Bernie Sheehy in his heyday. Barry Richardson. Paul Satterley arguably the best going around in the VAFA.

Oh! And Fraser Cameron - gun line coach.

Mike M-A's record speaks for its self.

His halcyon days were his first stint with the Monders. The second did not lead to much on-field success. Nor did his time at the Nodders. Guess even the best coaches can't make a silk purse out of sow's ear.

DeLa didn't give him the support he sort ending after a disagreement with the then Prez. So he and Benny got the heave-ho. DeLa backed the wrong horse imo.

He had some success at St Monies, getting them to two GFs.

Enough. Time to let Beaser just rest. Please no more.

I really hope the idiocy being posted over the Kew coach is now dead and done. People will have opinions, but i think we've had enough of them.
Can we move on (as many previous posters have asked) to actually discuss what is going on in C grade this year.

Final 4:
Nodders. There doesn't seem to be any Nodders on here so hard to argue 9 zip. Can they go undefeated?
Blue and Whites. Unlucky to lose to OI after leading all game, what are they missing to go the next step
OI. 3-4 winds by under a goal. Lucky or well coached? I tend to think well coached cause you cant be lucky that many times
Pirates. Up and down and prob most vunerable in 4

Only Kew and Willy can dislodge, and i dont want to ask who is better cause that will encourage crap comments about their coaches

On the drop.

When is the last time Marcellin dropped to D?
I cant separate the bottom 4 and on their day can challenge top 4.
Any insights as to whats going on at those clubs?

The Monds will struggle this week with too many still out, but after that we expect to improve with a few long terms coming back, a couple that were expected haven't come back up, but still confident of staying up. The last round clash against Camberwell could decide it, with someone toi watch their time keeper (only joking ).
Good post amofootyfan.

I’m generally reluctant to hypothesise at this time of year because it’s hiding to nothing stuff. Sides facing relegation have a history of growing a leg in the last part of seasons.

My guess is the side most likely to push into the four is Kew. They have two gun forwards who on their day are capable of carrying the team on their shoulders. Big game this week at Vic Park.

Can’t see relegation being between other than two of the present bottom three.

Nodders travelling well. Really come together under the new coach who has been able to get the ship back on track after a disastrous 2015.
Can't argue with a 9 and zip record but I think that a few teams might work them out in the back half of the year and bridge the gap a little.
They had a 15 goal better side 3 years ago and lost in the GF which should give the other sides some confidence.
I think any side that wins promotion will have to do a mountain of work in the off season if they are to have an impact in B Grade next year.

The coach is one of the best in the Ammo's and a great bloke

Agreed. He's a ripper.
And no Robinson Crusoe in the great coach and bloke stakes.
The Black cloud has lifted and that is no Phibb. Will win the flag.
Hard to imagine teams like Marc or Orm heading to D, but that's the beauty of the relegation system. Fortunately it allows for speedy comebacks if clubs can get things right. I know a bloke who had a beer with Glen Cox at the Harp and said that Marc are keen to get him on board for next year. If he has the time. Surely those in charge have realised the error of their ways in this years appointment??
Debacle.

"Those in charge" (which is one person who controls all decisions) were extremely keen to appoint a coach who had zero senior coaching experience and only one season of reserves coaching. The belief was that passion alone would drive them up the grades.

Only one person to blame and he should recuse himself from all further involvement. BTW he appointed the past three coaches . . .

Its very easy to criticise appointments, I have been guilty of that over the years at the Nodders.
But, when you sit back and think about it, these guys that make the decisions are the same guys that put in 20 hours a week to keep the club running - all unpaid mind you. They are the people willing to put up their hand and try and do what's best for the club. They do it for no other reason other than that they love the club and want to see it prosper. They get some right and get some wrong - but no-one can have a crack at them from putting their hand up and trying.
And finally, from my understanding of Marcellin, they haven't been turning away volunteers in their droves recently.
As I said, I've been guilty of this in the past but until I'm willing to put my money (or time) where my mouth is and put my hand up to help, I just have to keep my mouth shut and hope things turn out well.

From experience, its easy to get sucked in to appointing both Coach and Captain because the major sponsor with deep pockets exerts a massive influence over the unpaid committee members. Is this the case with Marcellin? They have made the last 3-4 finals series in C only to go out before the big dance. Maybe bigpockets thought he/she knew better.
Appointment of a coach and then the captain should be independent of those on the committee (maybe 1 rep) and must understand how the nominee will take the club forward, and must must must understand AMO culture.

Thoughts?

Bald Bernie I'm guessing.
Not a big fan?

Your last paragraph is spot on. Comittee needs to appoint a coaching committee that is balanced and ticks the boxes you have mentioned. AMO culture being huge. No point appointing a gun coach from a paying league for example, that loses it when AMO players slip away for a trip or a wedding from time to time. We are a little different.

Bald Bernie is a legend of the club, and no its not him - we are all his biggest fans. By the way, he received an OAM on Monday and was thoroughly deserved based on his contribution to Medicine, Mens Health and the community.

The man with the trigger has had a conflict of interest for years and should not have the power that he does.

Correct and before DT this is exactly what happened and failed TWICE. Again, the same person has made all these appointments.

Hopefully Mr OAM can prevent this person from getting involved again. Sounds like a shocker.

For what it's worth not Lethal Leigh Carlson?
Great club full of good people, I hope they don't follow Old Paradians but it seems that way.

In the words of Sergeant Schultz - I say nothing!!!

Ideally clubs would take a leaf out of the AFL and place someone - or two - on the selection committee from outside the club who has a record of achievement in coaching - not necessarily in aussie rules. I thought the Blues using Postecoglou was insightful.
