The biggest question for Prem C 2026 is:-

Is Nathan Jones:-

first round draft pick,
multiple rising star nominee (3rd behind a couple of nobdies called J. Sellwood and S. Pendlebury),
Sandringham VFL premiership player,
3 times Melbourne B&F winner,
Melbourne Captain,
professional footballer since the age of 18,
302 AFL game player,
4 game OP veteran,

going around again in 2026?

Has there ever been a more decorated player play in the VAFA at any level?

FWIW Robert Harvey played at Old Haileybury. So yes

I don't think he will
But no doubt will go after a few local pro's

Fair call, Banger has Jones covered, Jones probably one tier behind him. Banger also from the "district", one of John Paul College's finest.
Robert Harvey #1 for mine but Josh Kennedy would have to be next. AFL Premiership player, 3 x All Aust, 3 X B&F including in a premiership season, 5 years as Captain. Crazy to think he was discarded by the Hawks.

Agree with Kennedy resume but Kennedy definitely not at the fitness/level he was at afl level, whereas jones is still very in tact.

Kennedy leaves at the end of 2009 as he is well behind Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, and Sewell as inside mids. A wealth of riches.

So we have two players that are more decorated than Jones, who played 2 games to qualify for a Div 1 finals campaign.

Does anyone on planet VAFA think 2 games is the right number for a player of Jones ilk?

I have no particular issue with him playing, but...

clearly IMO the qualifying number should be higher and he should have appeared in OP colours before 30th June to be consistent with rules for other similiar type player movements.

Re the first point – I’ll thrown in Tom Hawkins (yep - one thirds game but it’s still the VAFA). 3 x AFL premiership player, Geelong B&F (fair effort to win a 'mid fielders award' as a forward and in such a star-studded team), Coleman medal, 11 x Geelong leading goal kicker, 5 x All Australian. Also Stewart Loewe. 321 games. State rep, 2 x All Australian, club captain and B&F winner, St.Kilda team of the century. Actually played about 4 or 5 seasons in the VAFA at Old Haileybury and has been involved at the club and school for years so is a genuine VAFA person. Ironically I think he is also a Peninsula old boy. Notwithstanding Jones had an outstanding AFL career, I think if you were picking a side you would take Hawkins and Loewe before Jones.

Re the second point - I think the general consensus is that 2 games in not a reasonable qualification number, no matter the player or his background.

OH has Harvey, Loewe, Voss and Brown (Tony) all in the same side.

Loewe has to be a lot higher than Jones. He played over 70 for OH including the 2006 A Grade Premiership.
