Just been reading about Old Xaverians's 6th straight premiership in the 2000 VAFA Annual Report. Was wondering would Xavs have won premiership no.7 if they had won the first semi final that year?

No. Marcellin were absolute certainties. Everyone knew that. Lift Jase.

Great win by the lions yesterday.

The younger brigade played well all day and just marched CGFC at every contest all day.

Go Lions!
They did indeed. Every time Caulfield got close the Lions would find another goal just to keep them at arms length.

I thought the Lions looked very cohesive and transitioned smoothly, certainly a lot more than my boys.

Hibbins looked pretty good in his return through the Reserves too.

I suppose the only 2 results that went against the grain were Coll and OS. Early days of course and who knows what has transpired amongst Clubs but Im thinking things could be a bit "tighter" than maybe first thought. Colls were good and managed to hold off a number of challenges, where as last year they would have "rolled over".....Im thinking the bigger pre season will hold them in goodstead, having said that, OX to set the pace.

You can definitely say that the bigger pre-season was more than evident on the weekend.

Onto this week and the task against Old Trinity, which due to the grand prix being on will be played at the magnificent HJ Kroger Front Turf at Wesley College's St Kilda Road campus.

Grand Pricks affects so many clubs

Grand Pricks affects so many clubs

It does, but it brings a truckload of revenue into the city and state with it.

I can see how both can co-exist relatively well, however I really think that the race being in April as opposed to the usual mid-March timeframe is a logistical nightmare and headache for everyone involved in local sport, especially as it is the start of footy season, where as by mid March, cricket is usually finished sans a grand final here or there and winter sport has yet to commence.

Cricket was off a Month before , clubs can't have GF's at home . The Tennis and Spring Carnival do more for the state and we're not spending 60 Million to set up and pull down . Should be at Phillip Island.

We have an economist amongst us, thank you for your insight Mr Ford

Such a bog average event.I hope CollegiansAFL and all other Community users are compensated for their inconvenience. At the very least ground usage fee should be reduced pro rata.

Parks Vic......Sat on the connection of Colls new light towers for over 6 months (3- 4 years ago now), nothing was being done but
hollow promises and the new season had started. It was not a big deal to complete the project. Westacott (OW) Grand Prix CEO was at a function their and asked why they hadnt been connected and was summarily told...within 2 days the lights were on....Unbelievable incompetence,,

The standard of the grass and general areas is disgraceful . I was at the Trott for a Premier T20 and the surface was terrible . My cricket club has never been the same .

Westacott is OW?
CollegiansAFL should be in the box seat to be compensated surely?

Westacott is a flog

How have you come to this conclusion Mr Bedford?

Back on football terms, Collegians will be playing Old Trinity this weekend at Wesley St Kilda Road on the hallowed HJ Kroger Front Turf. It should be a great game of football.
