Forgot to tip, bloody hell!!!!!

At least a fully fit Lions side brought some joy to the faithful and brought our first victory against a top 4 side on the ladder since 2019 when we beat Old Xavs at Toorak Park in round 18.

Sofronidis was in everything down back, whilst Michie and Hibbins gathered disposals at will and were feeding the football with aplomb to Mirra up forward!

Go lions!

A nice little break now before the season kicks up another gear before finals. I don't see the make up of the final 4 changing, but it could be pretty interesting at the bottom of the table over the final 7 rounds.

Sofronidis another Ormond junior

Not sure what happened to the post by Mr XXXAFL that referenced Old Xaverians going ‘full Old Scotch’ in the second quarter, but the behaviour by some OX players was less than acceptable.

There will be a few OX players who will be suspended, and rightly so, not the type of actions that we want in the VAFA.

Just a pity the umpires prefer to report via video instead of sending players off for 15 minutes.

FWIW so if teams are still under but have applied the wrong points to a player are they breaking the rules? Glass houses, kettle black etc etc

As per the VAFA rules:
1. If teams apply the wrong points but are under the team limit they are guilty and fined
2. If teams apply the wrong points and are over then they are fined and lose any points that were won for that game
(What isn't clear is whether the team on the losing end gets the points instead - the rules are silent on this)

Not true. They go by what they see at the time, if they didn't see the incident clearly they won't report it. However discussions at the break sometimes cover "I paid the free kick but did you see something reportable" and if there is no consensus then they will ask for a video review just to be clear.

Had a wee look and number 14 O Xavs will be able to take a month off with our byes included. Believe he is going back to re enrol at the snipers course over the break to brush up on camouflage. Might as well have signed the camera for the VAFA.

Fair enough, my point was that OX should have been running around with 16 players in the second q for blatant unsavory conduct.

I went and watched what is available of the replay and saw what an inexperienced umpiring panel was in charge and thought some of the issues on the day were from lack of control of the game. Mystifying decisions, over rules from non controlling Umpire led to frustration all round

Good call Mr Seven, the two OX players, 14 and 31, have both been suspended, and so they should be.

VAFA Tribunal out on website. Number 14 got the expected 2 which means the school holiday has been enacted. Gossy gone as well. Biggest surprise was the Gossy sling tackle that starts an excellent standard VAFA MELEE++++ at the Q2 18.00 minute mark in the middle of the ground and still going after the point is scored is not sited as a Melee - 6 other games are listed as fines.

Friends in high places I suspect.

Matt C probably threatened to pull the offer of legal support to fight the Blues if they were hit with any fines 😂
