MO deserves bonus points for tipping his Club. I dont think Colls performance was a fluke. They have a blend of Senior types, Mirra, Ong, Hibbins,Ferg,Michie, Cassidy etc plus a great crop of school kids /VFL (10) who can really play. The School talent is "gold" not to mention the bonding they form.

Yes I know, its only one game...a lonnnnnnng season ahed.

Either OXAFL have a lot of injuries or lacking serious talent this year considering the team on the park today. OH looked like they put up a good fight against SKOBAFLVFLALUMNI

Re : OXAFL : All teams have injuries and unavails so that's immaterial, maybe not as good as they think they are...i

The Lions had Hibbins and Mirra out, so not exactly at full health themselves.
Mirra and Hibbins aren't injured, they were just away over the weekend. I'd expect both to come back in this weekend with a pretty big impact.

We played really well from what I heard on the radio coverage and watched on the replay. It seemed that only for about 10-15 minutes in the second quarter, Xavs had the ascendancy over us, but it was good to see two pretty young sides going at it. Collegians had a bevy of debutants, as did Old Xavs.

Our side looks much better when VFL players like Josh Watson and Dan Orgill are in it. They are two really promising young players who are only 21 and will only get better, however I'm not sure how much we will see of them this year given their VFL commitments. It looks like we have found a good young roaming forward in Teigan Otter who kicked a goal with his first kick in senior footy.

Our reserves got genuinely pummelled on the weekend, and it'll be interesting to see how they go again this year, it looks like it may be another difficult year depth wise once again for us.

Speaking of this, I get that probably the four weakest reserves sides in Collegians, Caulfield, Uni Blues and Old Haileybury played against the three best sides in Old Xavs, Old Scotch, OMs and SKOB, but the one sidedness of some of those reserves scores doesn't bode well for where depth is at, especially for the clubs relying on a talent pipeline from co-ed schools.

That's the case now, not sure if it will change. Pretty sure Xavs and Collegians both played with 22 points on the weekend.
Geez, the Lions boys are up and about here, great to see! A massive win over what looked like the OX under 19 team, calm the farm lads, I’m sure the OX boys will get a lot stronger.

In our game, OH were very good after they unfurled their Premier B flag, they had a serious dip, will trouble a lot of teams this year, good on them.

This week it’s our turn, we’re looking forward to unveiling the Premier flag at the King on Saturday, then it’s into what will be another tough match against Caulfield Grammarians.

There’s no easy games in Premier!

Ease up Mr Platinum, we had six debutants on the weekend too and 15 of our side were under 23, so it wasn't quite boys v men out there!

I'll take the Blues over the Blacks in a real case of hold your nose tipping
OM to take down OX due to Penski indicating they were pretty ordinary unit this year
SKOB to unfurl the flag in style and win well against the Fielders.
The defeated Grand Finalists (OB) to defeat OH. Tough fixture for OH....made enemies at E Park?
The Purple Men (OC) to continue their winning ways in the Home & Away season. ON quite a run going back to mid last year.

I ventured up to Camberwell Sports Ground on Saturday and saw an enthralling game of football between Collegians and Old Scotch. Collegians were on top early, but Old Scotch were far better in the second and third quarters, before Collegians found a bit of a lift in the last quarter, overturned a three goal deficit and just hung on to win in the end in front of a healthy crowd on a lovely day for amateur football.

Old Scotch had plenty of chances, but just couldn't take them, whilst Collegians did, in particular late on in the game.

I know he's been a star of the competition for a while, but Viv Michie was everywhere on Saturday. A big game this week for my lions against Old Brighton. Two undefeated sides going head to head at the Trott with our boys looking to avenge last year's preliminary final loss.
