Unless they play No key defenders like they tried this week against Grimley
Hard to play them when they’re in Europe, that will change in the coming weeks, Critchely in particular will be a handy in.

Credit to Blues, they didn’t give up, we just need our cattle back asap.

SKOBAFL wouldn’t be happy with their disappointing season so far. Despite their terrible form they should still make the GF and be a chance.
Have lost four games by under a goal, won one by a point and another by three points. Smashed by Collegians.
Not a great season but could be 12-1 with half the club in Europe.

Hopefully blokes are more committed in 2024 now that they’ve got the travel bug out of the way, but who really knows.

Just recapping what I saw at the Harry Trott Oval on Saturday afternoon.

Collegians look a very well oiled and humming side. I was conversing with a former Collegians star of yesteryear and we were discussing how the side has been very stable this year and is just working along very nicely, which is just wonderful to watch. It was also the first time we have won both home and away fixtures against Old Xavs since 2011.

Bazzani was terrific in the middle and the forward line, despite Mirra getting injured very early on, was terrific all day. Pocknee and Greene have really stepped us this year and it's great to see. Our backline has been fantastic all year and they were resolute on the weekend again. A few older heads were scratching their heads to think when the last time a Collegians side kept Old Xavs to one goal in a half before, none could come up with an answer.

Old Xavs are a strong club, which is evident in that our reserves side, who have been in really good form lately lost by 100 points to Old Xavs, but I must say they genuinely lacked leg speed and power in their senior side. It was a very young looking Old Xavs line up, which is highly unusual. I know they have blooded a lot of debutants in the seniors this year, but it seems they don't have the stronger bodies and experienced heads to be challenging for the flag. On that note, it was great to see Chopper Handley playing in the reserves again and he booted his 900th goal for Old Xavs on the weekend, he's been a star of the competition for so long and it's great to see him play good footy, even if it's against my side!

"Chopper" would have to be OX's greatest player. His goal kicking has / is exceptional. An outstanding loyal Club man

Doh, but it is factual young fella! Regardless it means nothing at this point, Collegians are red hot favourites @$1.05 and so they should be, they’re a great bunch of guys who deserve to be.

Also, I don’t think enough has been said about Old Brighton’s drop off, their list has been pretty strong this year, despite people saying they were going to be hit by the travel bug. They are paying Donuts a tonne of money, to be where they are is really disappointing.

And despite what you say about OX, they did start the year with Hannebery and Gowers as their prime recruits. Where did Vandenburg and co go? Did they just pull the plug, all at once? If so this is a little odd? And surely Chopper plays seniors? Why wouldn’t he?

Good point Plat....Why not give him a game? Your Ressies have plenty of talent. He is big enough and certainly good enough. They need someone
up front to kick to..

Just on this Mr Platinum, I think we all know premierships aren't handed out in May, June or July, it's September when they're handed out and when it counts.

Just on Old Brighton, you can say that Donati has been pretty hamstrung so far this year in terms of availability, in particular the availability of senior players, many of whom seem to prefer Santorini to South Road at this time of year, so it's not all on Donati and his coaching. The side I saw earlier in the year was well drilled, well coached and looked the real deal.

Sorry Mike, I wasn’t referring to Donati, his record speaks for itself, I was more referring to the mindset of his players off the back of the GF loss last year.

Thanks for clarifying Mr Platinum, but that's part and parcel of amateur football. Plenty of clubs have had groups of players climb the mountain or get close to it and then fall in a heap, it happens, because footy is very similar to life and that is cyclical.

Old Brighton to defeat OMs
SKOBs easily over Caulfield
Collegians to defeat Uni Blacks
Uni Blues over Old Haileybury
Old Scotch to defeat Old Xavs

Old Brighton will be too good down at South Road for OMs
SKOB to do it comfortably over Caulfield Grammarians
Collegians over Uni Blacks at the Trott
Uni Blues to be too good for the bloods of OH
Old Scotch to defeat Old Xavs at TH King

Old Brighton to defeat OMs...OMs are in trouble.
SKOBs easily over Caulfield.. I hope.
Collegians to defeat Uni Blacks....Unbeatable at the moment....
Uni Blues over Old Haileybury...This will be the close one.
Old Scotch to defeat Old Xavs....Scotch to end Xavs season is quite the role reversal

SKOBAFL
WesleyAFL in a close one
BluesAFL at the swamp
Scotchies in a homecoming at TH King (Gladiators)

I know it sounds callus and probably disrespectful, but a few of us have long memories.
It is pleasing to the eye that OM's are struggling at this and looking at taking the "big drop"....
Think you mean callous but please elaborate.....the sight of OMs just makes me think of the greatest GF comeback ever.....happy to have them around.
