Now this is a bit stupid, but i had to find a reason as to why we can win a premiership in the next few years. So, here is my theory.
LAST YEAR- hawthorn defeat adelaide in elimination final
the next week they lost quite comfortably to the team that got thrashed by geelong the week before (kangas)
...the next season they went on to win the flag
THIS YEAR- collingwood defeat adelaide in elimination final
the next week we lost quite comfortably to the team that got thrashed by geelong the week before (st kilda)
...the next season...well who knows

haha pretty stupid but it would be awesome if it worked out:D

haha these theories are quality- they fill you with hope for about 0.003 seconds but those 0.003 seconds are pure bliss!

Heres mine:

In 1989 Hawthorn beat Geelong in the grandfinal despite a stellar performance by G. Ablett, then in 1990...

In 2008 Hawthorn once again beats Geelong in the grandfinal despite a stellar performance by G. Ablett, so therefore in 2009...:D

We shall call this fine theory "The Crazy Daisy"...yes?
I like it, lets put that theory into practice.:D

Hey! I just got it.....we are on a roster system....:thumbsu:

my theory.....

last time we won a flag... 90
next year is 09.....
transpose the 0 and 9... you get 90
next year is 90... we win the flag again... simple really...

now on a serious note... i do expect us to be challenging for a flag this year.. 3 succesive finals campaigns enough experience into many of our good young players, enough pre-seasonsfor many to have the strong bodies etc... at least one flag within the next 3 seasons is a must with this squad.... destined for glory
not a bad slogan either...

I was thinking the same thing when Hawks beat the Cats - I said it happend in 89 and what happen in 1990;) and to make it more fun there was a Rescission then too

I know in 2000, I was thinking....

1970 Grand Final - Collingwood Carlton
1980 Grand Final - Collingwood Richmond
1990 Grand Final - Collingwood Essendon
2000............

But of course that didn't work out, with us finishing 15th.

There has been a bit of these fun coincedence things brought up. Brisbane one a final with the youngest ever finals team before going 3 peat over the next 3 years. We just one a final with the youngest ever team to do so.

There is also Figjam's depression premiership specialist theory.

I was of the belief that we were the youngest team to win a final SINCE Brisbane did it....

I was born in 1971. We didn't win a premiership for 19 years... 1990. 19 years later it will be 2009... omg! Irrefutable evidence. Prepare to party gang!

I love these theories. They are like christmas morning. You get all happy and excited, then you open the present from nana.
"Oh yay.....a book...Thanks nan."
is = to
"Oh yay.....we finished 6th.....maybe next year"

I think the team is fine, plenty of young talent.
Last year the Pies and Hawks had a fantastic game of fast, skillfull football and I thought at the time that these two teams are going to be at it for the next few years in games that are not to be missed.
Since then Collingwoods game plan has gone backwards and doesn't seem to take advantage of the players natural abilities
In my opinion the coach is letting the club down as the game has passed him by and he doesn't have another premiership in him. He got close a couple of times but that was 6 years ago.
