Sloane's not worth a tag from the first bounce. Kornes to Thompson, Mitchell or O'Shea to Dangerfield. If Sloane gets on top of us, then shift Kornes onto him, but Thompson and Dangerfield are better and we can't tag all three of them.

Sloane's a real barometer type player, when he fire's they win, but yeah you can only tag so many. Most clubs only tag one of Dangerfield and Thompson, it throws your midfield balance out tagging two inside mid types. I agree O'Shea would be a good match for Dangerfield.

P. Stewart on Reilly will be another important match up.

No changes at all.

No one deserves to be dropped.

Double team Walker, Double team Jacobs, shut down Dangerfield and the game will be won.

Jacobs actually had a pretty good first half against the Bombers. But the combination of Ryder and Bellchambers simply wore him down in the second half. This is why we simply must play 2 rucks. IMO, the two major reasons we lost last years first showdown, despite going into 3 quarter time with some momentum, was a) our poor fitness, and b) we played Trengove as our second ruckman.

Essendon showed how it's done. Get on top of Jacobs and absolutely smash Dangerfield and you're half way there.

I'm happy to go in with no changes, but I wouldn't be entirely against swapping Redden for Renouf this week. Redden's form hasn't been great so far, and Renouf is a good nullifying ruckman which would be handy against the guy who broke the all-time AFL hitout record last time he played us.

Does Kane Cornes even tag other players anymore? I understand that he might line up on them at stoppages or something, but tagging is something completely different.

I actually don't think it happens much at all nowadays, but I don't really look out for it. :S

Anyway, I doubt there will be any changes this week. I'd like to see Matty Thomas come in as much as I would every week, but he isn't really kicking down the door so its not going to happen. I feel bad for Kane Mitchell though as I suspect he will be the sub yet again, unless Cobra or Wines replace him.

EDIT: Actually, bringing Renouf in would be a pretty good idea TBH. I'd guess Lobbe would be dropped, as Redden is more effective with his hitouts.

Lobbe won't be dropped on his weekend form. Nor should he be.
As much as he wouldn't deserve it, I think it may be the right move towards winning the game. Though if Redden is dropped its pretty much the same. I just prefer Redden as he is more skilled, though Lobbe's influence around the ground is clearly greater.

If no injury concerns, I'd be happy with no changes. Mitchell as sub again for this week, his run could well prove the difference in the 4th if the game is a hard, tiring contest.

Only change for me would be to kick more goals than points this week.

Because his name is O'Shea.

MOAR LIKE O'GAY AMIRITE

But seriously,

If hartlett is out: Mitchell into starting group, possibly carhoon or moore as sub.
If schulz is out: in butcher, out schulz

If both are out: Mitchell + Butcher to starting group, moore or carhoon as sub.

Redden to be given one more week, put the pressure on him in regards to Renouf.

Lobbe would be a better partner for Renouf than Redden. Lobbe is good at what Renouf is weak at, and vice versa. Renouf and Redden are too similar. Plus Lobbe has been a lot better than Redden so far this season.

I wouldnt give Neade the greenvest ....our forward line has been crying out for a player like him for a long time

Also mitchell deserves a full game he looks hungry

This feels like the kind of game where someone like Neade - either through the sense of occasion or being a considerable blip on the opposition's radar - will have a shockingly quiet game.

You can't drop him and it would make little sense to relegate him to sub, it's just the vibe.

I would go Stevenson as the sub, been great last few weeks for us but gotta give Mitchell a full try before Salter gets back from injury. Heath > Stevenson
Yeah i was gonna say that töö but he was so good against gws...

Reluctantly and very reluctantly would say Pstew possibly...

But it depends if hartlett is out...

lol.

Why are people dropping people just because?

Also lol @ thinking salter will ever make it into this squad.

pretty much if hartlett is out, the sub will be easy, just bring up someone like Moore who did good in the sanfl and put them as the sub, therefore mitchell will get a full game.

Lets hope that doesnt happen though... 2013: the year hartlett plays 22 games

Yeah its good spot to be in now when we are struggling to find a sub...

This game will tell a better story of our starting 22 though
