If I had
I truly hate the thought of Ross Lyon coming on board... but maybe he’s exactly what we need? He wouldn’t take any crap from any of Burton, Campo or Hart. He’d eat them up and spit them out as an appetiser.
Honestly wouldn't be against it, this club is already one massive joke.

I do feel our club does strive to win Premierships. But lacks that final class/knowledge/grunt (whatever) to actually win them.
Pyke said before the 2017 GF that they'd won nothing. All that had happened was they had earned the right to play in a GF.
Winning it would be something completely different.
I doubt that he got that across to the players, who
--- had a chip on their shoulder about "unfinished business" as if 2015/16 meant that they were owed a Flag
--- had the delusion (with many fans) that after what had happened they "deserved" to win.
Many of them still talk and behave like that. Unfinished business/we deserve a Flag.
That line of thinking does NOT get the job done.

Fixed Don Pyke's statement:

I would like to make one quick comment around AFL football. The landscape we now operate in as an industry is more challenging than ever for players, administrators, boards and coaches and this is leading to a wide range of issues around contentment DUE TO CANCERS LIKE BRETT BURTON. I hope that in the future we can find a better balance in how we view the game regardless of result - otherwise I fear for people’s genuine love of the game BECAUSE OF CANCERS LIKE BRETT BURTON.
I think he’s actually referring to supporter contentment. When people lose perspective and get so damned mad at the loss of a game of footy that they feel compelled to spew forth angry vile insults at all and sundry, but specifically singling out players for a crap game, or coaches for making/not making decisions etc. etc. He wonders how anyone can enjoy the game when they come from that angle. And he’s right. I’ve often made comment in here that I don’t see how some of you could possibly enjoy your footy at any level given how angry you always seem to be. And if we are spewing anger and vial insults at his players constantly, would they actually be enjoying their footy either? Well, that’s how I took this comment in any rate.

Whilst I agree with your sentiment. It does at time feel like our club strives to just make Finals.

However every coach bar Shaw has made a Prelim.

We have been a bit better than just merely making up the numbers in September for many of our Finals appearances.

I do feel our club does strive to win Premierships. But lacks that final class/knowledge/grunt (whatever) to actually win them.

My issue is that I think the club believes that if you make the finals "anything can happen".

The club needs to strive to be Number 1, not just strive to be good enough to finish 8th and hope for a miracle Bradbury premiership.

Is it how emphatic us supporters and Adelaide media get when we get close.

A feeling the job was done, when it wasn't.

Yes we lose. But the players and club still get that high by merely making a Prelim. And thus the satisfaction.

Is that attitude inherent in our club, heck our State.

But we won two flags that way....

Yes a different system. But since we did it twice and a lot of the same people who were there then have remained with the club, it is only natural that attitude prevails.

Maybe I can break down enjoyment levels from a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the most enjoyable):
5: Winning a premiership
4: Winning regularly, making top 4
3: Winning moderately, making top 8
2: Missing finals, but with a talented young squad to look forward to
1: Missing finals, with a few young players to look forward to
0: Missing finals, but with an old squad and literally the least number of young players to look forward (if you go by RS awards)

AFC is at 0.

Listening to the presser... Chapman says 'the searches gotta be exhaustive ' ... Benny hart, Brett Burton sign here... I don't really think any recent decisions have been exhaustive

I'll say it.

He wasn't good enough.

I disagree. He was good enough and the proof was in 2017.

We just set him up for failure with who we had around him, and he did just that, fail.

It is a long trek from Fagans office to Burtons.

Can get exhausting....

Oh my god if you thought Chapman was diabolical in today's presser his performance just now was next level.

Deceit and incompetence rolled into one disgraceful package.

Get out you fraud!
Did I hear right when he expected no further resignations?

Chapman in the presser.. "this club is in really good shape" ... compared to what? Afghanistan? ... wtf.

This guy is reminding me of the Iraqi information minister
