Not directly QAFL related, but anyone think AFLQ should do something about juniors? Example:Morningisde have 6 u13 teams, and I think 4 or 5 u15's team, grange have 4 and 4 respectively. It's just killing other clubs, and they will never be able to be competive in scenes like that

A lot of people do speak about it like glory days. What made the pineapple cup such a great comp for many years?
It was essentially a lot of the QAFL teams now, was a very competitive and even comp which spread from Noosa to Coolangatta, some great local rivalries and the standard of footy was terrific

So can someone explain to me why the out of the 3 south central Brisbane clubs of Sherwood, Mt Gravatt and Morningside. Only one has multiple premierships and hasn’t been wooden spoon since QAFL began? I am well aware Morningside was a powerful club for a long time but Mt Gravatt hasn’t played in a GF since 2009 and not sure if Sherwood even played in one in Pineapple cup.

In terms of senior team success only, why have Sherwood and Mt Gravatt been behind or just in the middle of the pack for so long?

Wouldn't you say Sherwood are a Western club and Morningside are an Eastern club?

I guess both south of the river, but hardly 'south' like Mt Gravatt are.

If you talk to the old folks at the Magpies, they will tell you that the Morningside and Mt Gravatt QAFL teams were populated by their juniors for 20 years while they played in the Piney Cup - not sure whether there is any truth to that, but its the line they love to spin.

Was a super 2nd tier of footy - all the things Longy said and although travelling was obviously extreme for Noosa's / Cooly and a few others it was never really complained about. In fact some of those away trips were pencilled in as "trips away".
Tbh not sure why it worked so well but feel this is what Div 1 footy could be now if the powers don't offer up QAFL status to every club wanting to but actually stuck to their 7 pillars that was the original criteria. Be great if Div 2 clubs aspired to be in Div 1 and that falling back from QAFL was still going to be seen as a really good place to be.

Just a quick reminder that migrain59 didn’t submit their tips this week. Make sure to get them in ahead of the next round to stay in the hunt.

Good luck for the week ahead!

That Mt Gravatt lineup is beginning to look awfully similar to the team they would be putting out last year 😬 I hope for their sake they have alot of players coming back
