Short answer is they just go down the list. QAFL, Div 1, Div 2, Div 3 in order. and they'll probably release North and South at the same time

although - If you change up 1 draw it can affect when any given club's requests for their womens and mens teams home game to line up on the same day can happen, for example if they want to do a sponsors day or get a marquee player in.

any changes to the div 1 mens draw or the div 2 womens south draw to accommodate Beenleigh's move to mens Div 2 south can affect when other clubs can line that up.

Any club with a Div 2 womens team, north or south could in theory be affected by that. Including at least one with men's in Div 2 North

How is women’s and Div 2 north thrown out?
They try align men’s and women’s games where they can. For us at Sandgate, we have Div 1 men’s and women’s, now the ressies women play in Div 2. Logistical nightmare really, so when Div 1 men’s draw changed, they had to rejig a few things.

Why they do this is February when clubs are needing to plan functions for the year is a mystery. I’ve given up being annoyed and angry and just smile and nod these days hhaahha

Rumours are that it’s not just Beenleigh that are causing delays in the comp draws. Seems a few teams might be moving. Not sure which teams or divisions though.

Sounds like regrading is being performed with some clubs because if it’s just one or two teams/clubs across different grades surely an alternate/back up plan would be in place.

the womens fixtures and structures leave a bit to be desired below QAFLW, and to make it worse the comp manager is departing in the next week despite not fixtures released yet!
6 team comp, wouldn’t a 15 round comp where everyone plays everyone 3 times be better than a random draw where you play some teams 4 times and some 2. Maybe you can apply for the gig and help them out mate!

It’s a damn shame for those Div 1 clubs bc all of them are very good footy clubs and deserve to be part of a good comp. At risk of being a broken record some of these dramas could have been alleviated if a couple of clubs were not asked but told they were playing in div 1. Give them some compensation as a carrot but it’s important that Div 1 is still seen as a good comp imo.

The absolute nightmare from a draw design now must be the women’s comps having ballooned and trying to accommodate the women fixture to align mens and women’s home games and where possibly away games. Need a phd in maths

It’s funny how the words fun, development, cultural growth, fair play etc get bandied around by coaches, presidents, players etc but when it gets down to decision time all of those words
fall away and we go back to being all about winning.
100% LB. Only your actions matter.

Bit like clubs applying for grants - the importance of their women's program blah blah gets them the grant - and then the same program gets told later on "well its the men the people are coming to watch so we can't justify that spend on the women's program".

One big issue has to be Northern Rivers. Ballina have FB post date 31 Jan saying they’re out of Div 2 South, and plenty of comments from unhappy campers. Byron Bay posted that they’re chasing players (of any standard) on 15th Feb. Lismore trying to come back.

They should go back to their own comp. It didn’t really work out going into the GC comp
