No way I50, R50 etc. should count. That's double accounting.

In basketball it can be points, rebounds, assists and steals, or points, rebounds, assists and blocks. That's great, but you can't count 'passes' or '3 pointers'.

All an inside 50 is is a player kicking or handpassing the ball inside 50. Given you are already getting a stat for the kick or handpass, why should you get a stat for where it goes? You may as well count kicks, handballs and disposals.

Yeah, kicking double figures in goals is too easy...

Last I heard, there had only been 4-5 NBA players who had completed a quadruple double in the forty odd years since blocks became an official stat. Only Alvin Robertson has ever done it with steals, as the NBA would probably only have a handful of10+ individual steal games per year.

Bumping this very old post to say that Larry Bird came very close with 30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 9 steals in three quarters, but then he didn't play at all in the last quarter, so never got it. Pretty impressive stats though.

The more remarkable stat is that it's never been done before. I was almost certain that a feat like this would be quite common. Another remarkable stat is that Travis Cloke never played at Skilled stadium/Kardinia park before until this year.

Crows youngster Jake Kelly came very close to a quad-dub tonight despite not reaching 10 in any of the four stats.

9 kicks
8 handballs
8 marks
9 tackles

Had a triple-double earlier this season with 12 kicks, 16 handballs, and 10 marks. Kid definitely has potential.

This article by The Mongrel Punt says 6 have done it in the AFL and only 4 in the NBA and the first in AFL/VFL footy didn't happen until 2009.

Only four players have been able to pull off a Quadruple Double in NBA history. Nate Thurmond, Alvin Robertson, Hakeem Olajuwon and David Robinson are the only men ever to climb this mountain, and each has only done it once. Thurmond was the first to achieve this in 1974, and Robinson was the last man to pull it off, twenty years later. No one has completed it since 1994.

In the AFL, the quadruple double is almost as elusive as it is in the NBA. As it currently stands, only six players have been able to compile enough numbers across the range of four specific categories to qualify as Quadruple Double players.

The first to pull it off was Scott Thompson for Adelaide in 2008.......

Joel Selwood in 2009, Brent Stanton in 2011, Ben McGlynn Rd 5 2014, Tom Rockliff Rd 20 2014 and Joel Corey late in his career in 2015. There are graphics and info at the link above.

There were a lot near quadruple doubles in 2017. This graphic shows why a lot of Port supporters are very happy with the club recruiting Rockliff.
