Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

This fixture drew 83 000 last year. What is the update on sales for the 2012 blockbuster? What sections are still available? Are they selling top deck of Ponsford stand yet? Will the Tigers fans show up in reasonable numbers? Biggest factor in actual attendance will be turn up of EFC seat holders (ie last nights 'sell out').

Keep us updated here.. Richmond fans updates welcome.

Rfc are just short of 50,000 members so brace yourself

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

Got mine today and it's getting tight.

All Standing Room tickets have been sold out it seems...when @ Ticketek in Geelong today, I had horrible difficulty just getting a ticket at the Punt Rd end bottom deck (got 1 M5 Row B) but, from M50 to M7 the reserved seating was full. All Premium seating gone. Only top deck Southern stand seems left.
Yep, bought mine online just before and this was all that was available. Well for 5 seats together anyway. No more reserved seating available in the AFL members so ended up getting tickets in Q5. I hate the nose bleed section but oh well, as long as I'm there!

There will obviously be more bombers fans there, but tiger fans will turn out in numbers as well don't you worry!
Looking forward to it! :thumbsu:

What is the go with general admission members tickets? Do ya need to reserve seats, or just turn up?

You'll still need to reserve a seat. Adult reserved seat upgrade for members is $14.35.

Currently, still only top deck Southern Stand only and it seems it's getting close to single seats. Everywhere else in the public reserve and premium seating has gone.

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

Settle down people!

There is still ALL of top level Olympic stand and ALL of top level ponsford stand to be released.

And the only reason it gets 80k plus is because the AFL distributes all of level 1 ponsford seating to indigenous community groups.

Surely there are loads of seats in the AFL members still available? Just checked and I've giving me Q18, so there's still half a dozen unsold bays. Reckon this game will pull 75k at most.

I had a look in the AFL members last night and it was saying it was sold out. Looked again this morning and got some in Q18.

It will be 80k+

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

Go to the game and you could be the 100 millionth football fan to attend the MCG:
:eek::eek::eek:

http://www.mcg.org.au/News/News/2012/May/MCG%20100%20Million.aspx

The MCG will join a very exclusive club on either Friday or Saturday night when the grand old stadium records its 100 millionth patron to have attended a VFL/AFL game at the venue.
The milestone will be reached at either the Collingwood-Geelong Cats match on Friday night (May 18) or the Dreamtime at the 'G event on Saturday night (May 19).

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

You have a "general admission" membership? That they didn't sell this year?
Very interesting...

its general admission for the G only, normally if i goto the G i get one of my mates to get me an MCC visitors ticket, so there was no point me getting a reserved seat for the G, if they sold Etihad only memberships id buy one of those apparently you need to be an MCC member for that which is BS,

anyway probably just go to use the standing room close to a bar this week, going to the footy with richmond supporters always makes we want to drink more for some reason!

I have honestly never heard of that type of membership, thought they were all reserved. Learn something every day!

It's probably a good idea to reserve a seat. Will be 80+.

It was definitely saying it was sold out last night, they must have just released Q18 this morning

Re: Press conference?

Random question, but I never really paid attention to footy during Uni, so I don't remember too much about the mid-2000s. What's the story behind Tom Hislop? I keep hearing about him, but I don't know what happened there.

Re: 'Questions that don't warrant a thread' Thread - *Ticket questions and random discussion in here

He looked promising but was always injured. In 2008, I think, he was offered a 1 year contract which he rejected and he ended up at Richmond. There he got delisted and redrafted but didn't play much and finished up last season.

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

No chance of selling out. As mentioned already they haven't even released all the bays at the top of the Olympic let alone the entire top of the ponsford.

AFL members is pretty short of capacity if it's only upto Q18 out of 28 bays though not unexpected given Richmond don't have as many afl members as other Vic clubs.

Essendon members reserved seating is half of first level of Southern (M6 - 16), All of level 2 (Level N), 3 (Level P) and the front 10 or so rows of Q6 - 16 in the Southern stand. It also has level 1 and 2 of the Olympic Stand. That effectively leaves the top half of the Q level of Southern Stand and Top decks of both Ponsford and Olympic Stands for the general public.

Sounds like it might only be a 75,000 crowd even if the top decks of Ponsford and Olympic Stands are full as Richmond won't bring as many into the AFL members / MCC members as a Carlton or Collingwood would. Last year they actually had overflow public walk ups on the night filling the top deck of the AFL Members in the Southern Stand and Q36 - 40 in the MCC to get it over 83,000. Doesn't sound like it will be the same this year.

The counter argument is that 3 years ago this match drew 74,000 and wasn't the same build up as it is this year.

We will have a better idea by COB Wednesday based on ticket sales.

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

I hear what your saying Dave, but with Essendon's larger fan base, and the fact that Richmond are coming off 2 wins, Essendon looking to take top spot, surely the crowd will hit roughly the same as last year?

I really wished MCG would release seats in a similar way for every game, rather than sometimes opening up Olympic, other times leaving Ponsford Southern stand to fill up....

Re: Dreamtime at the G - Ticket sales update

The basic bronze membership only has a reserved seat at Etihad. Gives general admission to the 4 home games at the G.
Seriously did not know that.

btw dave, level 1 M53 also has Essendon members' seating.
Definitely me, 4-6 others in my group, and about 15-25 other people around me seem to be there every G home game.
