Surely there needs to be somewhere that the players and coaches can feel they arent in the public eye and home truths and opinions can be voiced on both the opposition and our own people, no matter how ugly. If not in the pre and post game meetings then where?

Just on this, I'm one of the first people in the room to say "we should film this" believe me. A lot of the players and coaches watch Hard Knocks from the US, and they all love it.....their reaction to doing it here typically is that it wouldnt work. Imagine being in the room when telling a player is delisted.

We filmed after the last game of the year against Port, but as a group we decided for now it's best to keep it in house.

Well that's frustrating .. Maybe cut out delistings and stuff like that ... But group talks would be fine

Wasnt there an NFL team last year that was caught out in taped pre game meetings targeting opposition players with suspected injuries. I think they were offering cash rewards for players who could actually re-injure the opposition players mentioned pre game. Huge penalties followed when this got out.

Whilst this is an extreme case, It is an example of what can happen if recorded inhouse talk falls into the wrong hands

The only person I have ever seen complain is Bird Man. There will be nothing to see if they edit out all the stuff that needs to stay behind closed doors FFS- we get plenty of good videos stop complaining.

and im talking abou the players matey not us .. players complain about being grilled in there social lives is crap .. the amount the get payed to play sport is surely enough and they knew the risks

That was different, one particular journo had been recording meetings for a documentary. There defensive co-ordinator is on tape saying 'Go for the head' and some very chilling things. They had a complicated system in place that resulted in rewarding players with illegal under the table cash payments for against the rules high hits that resulted in injuries. Coaches and players involved have been banned for a year. Shocking Stuff!

I'm with Birdman on this. I don't feel my club is taking me for granted, but I do feel clubs rely too heavily on loyalty in getting memberships. It's no suprise the membership boom of the last few years has been driven by 3 game memberships, interstate memberships and others that appeal to fans who can't make it to every game.

The pies are on the track with non game memberships with online content only, and obviously the TV show also. I understand you've mentioned the cost factor rules out the show.

Hard Knocks is a good example but possibly going to far, as many clubs involved tend to get derailed. However whenever I see a Ray Lewis speech on TV it sends chills down my spine.

Surely it's not too difficult to record a bunch of stuff, and if it turns out to be unwatchable, boring or too many expletives just send it to the bin? And if it's good stuff, put it online as members only content so the members can see part of the inner sanctum. Most would love this! Could even lead to more memberships by encouraging some to sign up so they don't miss out, and also good for overseas and interstate Tigers to keep up with there team when they feel distant.

It's pretty clear we are a crazy, passionate, mad bunch. We spend a lot of time on this very message board talking about a club, one that we ride an emotional rollercoaster year long and scream our lungs out for, and most contribute heavily to, whether that be emotionally, with your time, or with your funds. In many cases all of the above. Having said all that, most of us know very little about the club. We don't know Jack Riewoldt's favourite hobbies, we don't even know the sound of Dustin Martin or Nathan Foleys voice as they don't talk often. We don't see the development of the young guns who don't debut right away (as rare as that is under Dimma's rule). This is something we probably deserve as massive contributors to this publicly owned club, and something that could generate much more revenue to the team.

As posters like you keep saying, they are there to win games not be celebrities. They are paid to play, if you want entertainment, ditch the afl and follow the LFL

Most of the videos you would see on roar vision would be heavily edited and hours put into them, it's not as simple as just hitting record on the camera and chucking it up on roar vision in alot of the cases, sponsors would demand good content. Editors don't want to put there name to bad content either.

i work in production and short films and edit quite a lot of film .. The club hired a full time person for this and honestly stig forgive me if its you but, i could do the work he dose as a casual job and do uni at the same time ... its not that hard mate

Please, give the man some ****ing privacy to live his own life without his bloody hobby's pasted all over the net.
Not attacking you personally Bird Man or anyone else who thinks it would be a grand idea - I just know if I was a player and some marketing suit came to me with a handheld camera and said "Tell me your favourite hobby, food and TV for the website." I'd tell him to get ****ed and continue doing what I was doing.

This age old quote is in reference to inspiring and inciting people to vote - not to complain per se. So in context, one could argue Birdman’s reference to the quote would require him to voice his concerns at the AGM, not whining to his peers.

I think Bird Man's sentiment is nice, he wants to know more about the guys, so do I. But I think that's where the limit is, we can let our feelings to the club known but whether they choose to do anything with that is completely their decision and we don't "deserve" anything. We pay for what we get as members.

if someone like jack or rance want to do a video diary, great. blokes like Martin and Foley and private fellas, don't want the spotlight, and just wanna play footy. why should they be forced in front of cameras just because you buy a membership? They are paid to kick a footy.

And again on the match day stuff, I don't get it. If keeping pre/post games meetings inhouse makes Hardwick think he even has a 1% better chance of winning, we should keep it in house. We don't need the coaches modifying their message because they know its on film.
