Ever considered dropping the yellow sash for a season or two? And perhaps replacing it with yellow and black stripes (one season) and then perhaps full yellow or something? Good for selling merchandise amongst other revenue streams.

Strangest thing I've read for some time, don't understand the logic at all - in fact, I don't want to understand the logic...

I was going to reply, but I got too angry, so I listened to some Angry Anderson, punched myself a few times, took a nap and now I'm here, still too bound for glory to reply directly.

Why not relocate to Darwin and change the clubs name. This should snag a few new members.

The rate we're going with Hartley, Dima, Choco, Lade we'll soon be call the Port Adelaide Tigers. Not knocking any of their work (except for Choco's in his final years at Port) but christ we have alot of expat Port blokes. Seems to be working thus far, I mean anything is better than Frawley or Wallace.

lol - I actually liked port's culture way back in the day (from a distance) before the wheels truly fell off. WTF happened?

Got to think outside the box a bit. Look at the club logo for instance, that changes every few years. Why not the jumper every couple of years? - of course, keep the traditional yellow and black. Every fan will want the latest one...and I get that there is an away jumper but that's not the point.

I'll tell you anyway. the logic is $$$$ which, like it or not, is what makes football clubs successful

Always healthy to think laterally but there'd be blood on the streets if they changed the jumper - even temporarily. I think the away strip/training jumper in many ways may have that angle covered to a degree, and the emotional attachment to the yellow sash is not jeopardised. They sell a massive amount of alternative strips in EPL, but I just don't think it'd work to the same level at Punt Road - just my opinion anyway.

Agreed there would be some upset supporters.Ironically, I think that there would be stronger bond for the club if they took it away for a couple of seasons, reintroduced it and took it away again etc. Plus the 'non financially committed' members would likely purchase one for themselves and / or their kids. Thus getting support (and money) from them when perhaps we wouldnt have. Big clubs in the the EPL, La Liga and others do it because it is proven that it works. Someone will do it in the AFL first. Its just a matter of when. Got to move with the times. Look at the Me bank centre. It would be fair to say that that was a bold move away from a 'traditional' building whilst keeping Richmond's identity. No different with the jumper IMO.

Fair point. It was reported that Ronaldo's squillion dollar transfer to Real Madrid was paid off by jersey sales alone!! But in the Tiges case, this is their identity, this is what they play for. As Newy says to all new recruits "this is our armour". They don't let the jumper touch the floor. Wouldn't think it would hold the same significance if they changed it every year or two. Plus they sell the training jumper and the clash/away strip...

Guys, not really the right thread for this, make another one if you want to discuss it please :)

I
Anyone noticed the splash page on our website at the moment? (The black landing page before you go through to the normal site)
Anyone like it, dislike it, don't care? Would like some feedback if anyone has any.

I liked it, right up to the bit in the Terms and Conditions for the Bingle Trades competition where it states that you must be an Australian resident to enter, then I lost interest.

Looks good though! Providing further value and prominence to a major sponsor can only be a good thing.

Not sure how it would look, may look crap, but would seem easier to just have the Trade Details listed underneath the picture on that Splash screen, then you don't actually have to click different button, can read what you need to, then continue on to the main RFC site.

But then I also have a lot of screen real estate so I'd be prepared to go widescreen too
