I whole heartedly agree on the first statement but still would like to know where we stand.Im not saying we should be a top spender. On the second, i NEVER asked for a individual breakdown of the FD spend just the total. Who said anything about itemised, individual aspects of the FD spend. All i asked about was the total amount thats all. On your last point, this is rubbish(for total amounts) considering most clubs state their footy clubs spend, in total dept dollars, and i said Kochy stated that Port will spent 17.2m last year but was 14th in the league. How does he know they were 14th if all the accounting is different. He must equate it somehow. This info is not proprietary, its just accounted differently than nearly every other club.

Of course you need it itemized to do what you want. If one club includes the it dept in the footy dept costs, but another includes it in general operations, how can you compare the two overall spends without knowing how much the individual cost is?

So how does Port know they are 14th in the league? How does the afl do it? How did the afl know when they spread sheet regarding funding? The afl know what it is as the media always have the figures to use so why should we be kept in the dark?

Clubs report everything to the afl. Remember WCE and Freo don't even have an annual report, but the afl get their info because it's submitted directly.

To be fair this info was more accessible in the past, when a footy dept was basically coaches, players, and a weights room. Expanded use of customized it packages, medical programs (the swans for instance got a special one used by AC Milan off memory), and the fleet of specialist staff and coaches now means what's footy dept and what's not is much more a grey area.

Fwiw I can't see the proposed afl luxury tax happening anyway, too many clubs against it, and too easy to work around IMO. This drugs stuff will move the focus massively.

Has anyone else had a phone call today regarding a raffle for selected members - possibly guys only (?)to help fund the punt road oval redevelopment??
tickets are $200 & only 2500 being sold
1st prize is $30k, 2nd prize $5k & a few other prizes..

Is this legit? I ask as the phone call came from a mobile number not a club land line number or 1300 number, etc. Am also at work so was fairly distracted during the call.

He wasn't researching anything, he was a guest of our major sponsor booked well in advance. He went last year and Jacko went this year.
