Why is the AFL making teams take 2 1st rounders in 4 years when 50% or more of 1st round draft picks are a flop?

Makes no sense to me.

Agree. Let Teams do what they want with their picks. Don't understand why we have to be told what we do with our draft picks.

From what i understand it was a safeguard for the shit clubs so they dont trade away there future by trading 1st round picks for known quantities seems less risky then taking a punt on a 1st rounder who is a more then a 50% chance to play less then 50 games.

Don't like the rule that if you trade your future 1st then you can't trade your future 2nd, 3rd & so on

It's absolute rubbish isn't it. There is no reason for this stupid rule but it's the AFL we are talking about.

Funny little story - a punk music forum I used to be on had a very polarising poster on it who one day went off on a bloke with an epic rant which finished with 'what would you know you one post campaigner'.

They were both very good, my memory of Brian Douge was that he was stronger and played a bit taller.
Always very fit and strong.

Peter Welsh was far more naturally skilled, and played a bit of midfield.
I loved his cheek.
He ended up at Richmond unfortunately, not sure why that happened, but that puts Douge ahead for me.

As a Club, we’ve had many great small defenders, starting with David Parkin, later Gary Ayres, Andy Collins, all great premiership players.
