And if his body is shot or he's not physically ready, how does him being putrid each week increase his confidence levels? This is an absurd position. And then what of "selection integrity"? Whatever happened to that, although I never really though it would apply to any other than the early career players. So Milera being gifted games when performing shit would fit our version of it quite perfectly.
Agree - Milera confidence likely to suffer further playing AFL at moment , wouldn’t surprise me if we get to the point that he doesn’t want to go on

Milera and M crouch selections are silliest of season , undoing some of the good work of other selections

My great fear is that they're now in for the season. We've got 2 almost certain wins coming up, these guys will be carried through them and we'll roll out the, "you don't change a winning team" mantra. Which of course only applies to keeping underperforming senior players in. Junior players are fair game at any given moment.

Assuming Butts, Brown & Doedee are outs and Rachele remains unavailable:

FB: Jones - McAsey - Worrell
HB: Milera - Murray - Hamill
C: Soligo - Keays - Dawson
HF: Rowe - Walker - McAdam
FF: Thilthorpe - Fogarty - Newchurch
FOLL: O'Brien - Hately - Berry
INT: Cook - Laird - Hinge - Pedlar
SUB: Davis

Ins:
  • McAsey (now or never...like for like with Butts)
  • Worrell (with Doedee out let's see what's he got)
  • Jones (should never have been dropped)
  • Walker (automatic inclusion)
  • Newchurch (we need speed up forward so let's see what he's got)
  • Cook (ditto for Jones)
  • Pedlar (gotta start getting games and midfield opportunities into him)
Outs:
  • Butts (inj.)
  • Doedee (inj.)
  • Brown (Covid)
  • Smith (omitted...needs a rocket)
  • Murphy (omitted...simply not up to the level and certainly not in the forward half where we play him)
  • McHenry (omitted...haven't seen any improvement this season at all in poise or damaging disposal)
  • Crouch (omitted...the game has passed him by; don't invest any more games in him)
The primary KPI for our mids this week (plus McAdam, Cook and Rowe) should be how many 15-30m passes do we as a group and you individually make which are marked inside 50 by Fogarty, Walker or Thilthorpe.

Very hard to argue with any of those changes.

If only we had someone of your calibre on the selection committee, hell I could pick 5 posters on here that would do a better job than our current "professionals".

1 of Milera's only touches last week did this. got ball near 50 and instead of having a shot (which everybody else would of done) he puts it on fogs chest.

is there actually a set time for the release of the teams? bloody decades of watching this stupid game and I have no idea!!!!!!!!! FOOTYYYY

They had a year or 2 where selection info was totally embargoed until sports report on channel 7. I recall a club getting in a bit of trouble for accidentally reporting a debutant prior to the lifting. It’s a bit loose now and I reckon the likes of Rowie get snippets an hour prior to official AFL release time. Might be 6pm Thursday’s, but that’s a guess.

But they couldn’t possibly watch Milera in current form and think that he’d help win games

So I’m not sure re the theory

They possibly could re Matt crouch but they’d be wrong

It’s still 6.25pm on Thursdays.

I'm okay with Milera staying in - needs to play at AFL level to get back up to speed. He has the skills, we shouldn't be fielding a side with the sole goal of winning matches.

But it is unbelievable that Crouch stays. Perfect game to get Schoey back in to build confidence, and someone should make way for Jones. He showed a lot even in the short time on field last week, and shouldn't have been dropped anyway.

On another note, who's taking bets on Parnell coming straight out next week for Brown after protocols?
