"Excellent" in R1 is a huge overstatement. He was average and below his best.
I don't think he is fit enough.

Last year always looked dead on his feet late in games. Today was the same (one time really noticeable)

He has the class but i reckon he is one who the fitness level doesn't come naturally to and will need to work on it harder than most.

Reminds me of Charlie Cameron 2 seasons ago, shows glimpses but not the fitness to do the repeat efforts and hard work consistently to rack up the numbers. If this comes he will have a lot to offer and until then he will still have something to offer with his class but not totally cement his spot

Lynch definitely comes in. Knight was last man up so chance he goes out. I'd drop Atkins though.

Seedsman was off for most of last qtr. Could be an injury concern there?

I think Jacobs needs a spell and it would be good to give ROB a taste of the top level.

It's 3 weeks in to the season, he doesn't need a rest. We play ROB and we're effectively gifting Sydney the ruck.

Lynch back in for Knight is an absolute no brainer. I'm a huge Knight fan but he was completely useless today and clearly still needs to build up some form in the SANFL.

If B Crouch is good to go (big if), I don't think you can possibly drop Lyons after that. He was excellent, and in our best 6 players on the day IMO (Thommo, Smith, Seedsman, Sloane and Dougie were the other 5 for those who care). For mine, Atkins is really struggling. I like him as a player, I like the fact that he's left footed and we sort of need that because the only other lefty in the side at the moment is M Crouch, but if you only have 2 bloody kicks does it really make a difference? His pressure and tackling ability is below par at present too. Must be dropped with the competition for spots we currently have.

Menzel and Cameron might come into the frame with a solid SANFL game too. Depending on whether or not B Crouch is fit, this puts even more pressure on Atkins, and also starts bringing McGovern and Mackay into the frame to be dropped. Menzel's left boot is an asset too and may give him an edge at selection considering Atkins' struggles.

At this stage, I'd go:

(B Crouch available)
In: B Crouch, Lynch
Out: Atkins, Knight

(B Crouch unavailable)
In: Menzel, Lynch
Out: Atkins, Knight

I don't think you make more than 2 changes unless you absolutely have to, and we clearly don't.

I think we're all excited about his x-factor, but he had a lot of errors today. Missed tackles, errors by hand and foot.
Sometimes development is accelerated by dropping down a level, dominating, and coming back. It isn't as simple as saying everyone always develops faster in the ones.

If Seed doesn't come up - Knight to stay.

Atkins and/or Knight out for Crouch and/or Lynch.

McGovern not put his place beyond doubt. Cameron or Menzel possibilities.

Obviously lynch and crouch come in if fit. Desperately want to see Charlie Cameron back in the team as well, really hoping he forces his way in with a good SANFL performance. He's almost a forgotten man

I think that's why its important he stays in, needs to learn to get rid of those errors in the high pressure games which he won't get in the SANFL. The longer we can keep him in the better it will be for his development.

Jeebers, we win by 6 goals away where we had the game on ice from midway through the second quarter and people are wanting 3 or 4 changes?

I'd like to think we only play Brouch if he is 100%, last thing we need is tightness turning into a tear. Just looking at stats it appears some players were very quiet but watching the game there was a lot to like about the game that was played, we are so much more a team than we have been for a long time, this is what makes us hard to play against.

Yes, there are a few on the"chopping block" if you like and I really, really want Charlie back in but I see possibly one change with Lynch, somewhat luckily getting straight back in the side. If that was my cricket team and a fella missed a match for a "second child" I mean come on, that is the spare parts child, you don't need to be there for that, they'd be doing the scoring for the next few matches.

didnt rat finish in the top 6 in some of the 3km runs?? If that's the case, its not fitness, its more like the role he's been given, or he runs inefficiently and to the wrong spots.

Not saying he couldn't do with a rest, I actually reckon he could. Just think its more of an adjustment or role or soreness/recovery issue than fitness per se.

Having Mitch and Lynch in that forward 7 makes us incredibly dangerous. There are so many layers to our forward line at present and he is only going to ge better.

Atkins isn't coming out for an inside mid or a forward flanker. He's coming out for Wigg or Menzel if he's fitness is at the required level.

Yeah - if we can be honest about it, McGovern deserves to head back to the 2's. He's exciting but he's still really green.
I must have been watching 7mate then. o_O
