There are so many holes in that incident and as you said government has used it to take our privacy.

Your privacy should be the least of your concerns. Your right to free speech and to read information and make your own mind up about it has been under threat for years and in the wake of the Christchurch attacks there are some truly Orwellian laws being proposed here in Australia. For example reporting on "special intelligence operations", what happens to asylum seekers and any number of other controversial issues can get you into trouble.

(In NZ its now illegal to possess or distribute that prick from Grafton's manifesto. Its ridiculous. People who like that stuff can still get torrents, but the rest of us are isolated from it, unable to read it, understand it or learn to recognise those ideas.)

ASIO can detain and question you about anything and if you refuse to answer (or are unable to because of ignorance of the subject) then you can be detained in secret for a week. You don't have to be a terrorist. Anyone reporting on this operational activity is also liable for reporting it. You can be held in "preventative detention" for up to 2 weeks. That is you aren't arrested or charged but are held incommunicado. You might be able to contact one family member once to tell them you are safe but unable to be contacted.

Half your luck. Germany's awesome.

Definitely do a river cruise if you get the chance, the scenery is stunning in places and there are some great cities and towns along the way. Cologne is definitely worth a look - try to get to a football match as the FC Köln fans are nuts and the atmosphere's awesome.

You should also try to head on down to Munich as the beer gardens go off when the weather's good and the beer halls go off pretty much all the time. Prost!
Thanks See See, I appreciate your reply. To busy working at the moment but yes, beer and football is on the cards.
I am also tossing up whether I head to Pilsner Urquell in Chechia to pay homage to the worlds first ever non ale beer.
And the Rhine river is just south of me. I will do some sort of cruise that involves Riesling for sure!

When did Bigfooty get so political? I don't think I saw more than a handful of political posts (on this particular board) up until the end of last year.

I blame Arthur Cloke.

The question of the day is wtf most of you posters do during the day?

Unemployed?
Shift workers?
Uni Students?
Politicians?

Where do you get the time to sit here and write War & Peace on.....opinions?
I eat a lot of beans so spend a lot of time on the crapper.

No, it's not. Shouldn't people earning over $10 million contribute more of that surplus to society?

I mean, FFS, $10 million!

Depends how it's spent.

Depends how it's spent.

Of course, but the principle remains.

I'm all for wealth accumulation but there needs to be a limit. At some point, it becomes pure greed and lack of social conscience. I can't tell you specifically what that point is, but I'm pretty sure it cuts in before annual earnings exceed $10 million. Annual earnings, not accumulated wealth.

It's all to totalitarian.
I guess we need to go back to face to face communication to keep things private.

People from the Former Yugoslavia feared speaking about politics and religion publicly for fear of spy's and reprisal from the government. Id imagine quite a few countries during that time felt the same.

Now a "free country" like Australia well it used to be, is implementing laws not to dismimiliar to those.

Under the justification of terror.

It's really there to make it easier to get evidence against criminals.

Found this pretty funny and scarily spot on.

Has a bit of swearing, I don’t know how to do the spoiler thing.

How the **** would some white campaigner in a suit in England know what racism is?

Have you seen the people controlling the levers of political power lately?

I wouldn't give them a brass razoo.

All stuff I've said in the last 2 weeks so no idea why you're repeating it. We've already had this discussion and about ways to try and navigate around blocks / maintain privacy (snake was discussion it too). I'm starting to think people have short term memory loss in here.
Perhaps your most ironic post of the thread.
I'm not the one's who come into this thread and like clockwork like any post directed at me (liked by the other dean, val keating, sopwith' lol, it's humerous catching up on this thread. Like a collection of people that have been offended). I'll add you to the list of posters that occasionally come in and move the goal posts just to make a point.

Like your Sandy Hook comment which came from nowhere and had nothing to do with anything I've ever said. If you can't debate the points fairly without pulling some bullshit emotion card don't engage. Really simple.

Or the fact that verbal and physical attacks on gay people in public in Britain have doubled in the past 4 or 5 years.

Source? How many of those are rational complaints?

Being "offended" does not automatically constitute a worthwhile issue.

Yeah, its the same people its always been and they're pissing themselves laughing at this divide and conquer bullshit playing off the sense of loss that the wealthiest most successful middle class in history is feeling.

Man, you're predictable.

You would be referring to the same middle class that is actually seated in parliament.

Man, you're predictable.
I'm not the one suggesting that enjoying someone's entertainment = I have no sympathy for Sandy Hook victims.

At least have the balls to admit it was a ridiculous comment. Instead you're doubling down and acting like I'm the one at fault :drunk:

You haven't said a word about that stuff.

You talk about Google and ****en Facebook not the Border Force Act of 2015.

Yeah. What's different to the way things have always been?

Well okay since political correctness started black people don't get hung from sheets in cells as often. Thats about it.
