1 year of a vegan diet and the carbon footprint saving is wiped out by one domestic melb to Brisbane flight.

Food source isn't the solution that will provide an impact on reversing climate change.

No, it's not THE solution, but it's certainly a part of the solution, and most importantly one in which every individual has the capacity to control choice.

Top call, Val.

If we're executing crap music acts, surely Foreigner should be one of the first to go up against the wall.
Not before Billy Joel and Coldplay.

Justice done in this case, albeit not for the poor bastard who died on the end of a fit after what that monster did to him.

Groin guru - thoughts on the journos who doggedly never gave this up?

fu** you Pell.

Wonder what Andrew Bolt is going right now.

I'm no Andrew Bolt fan, and I'm in the large majority who wish to see members of the Catholic church punished for decades of abuse by its members.

But ... I can't escape the feeling that this verdict has been arrived at to punish him for other crimes. I think Bolt makes some pretty plausible points.

In the end, Pell was maybe directly and absolutely indirectly responsible for abuses and deserves punishment. I'm comfortable on that level.

Really mate.

He's a paedo who worked and lived with other paedos for decades in the most paedo-riddled section of society.

He's a paedo.

He had Robert Richter SC and Bret Walker SC as his silks. If there was sniff of getting him off, he would have.

Not arguing against what he is and has done. I just acknowledge the possibility that in this specific case, the reasonable doubt standard might not have been applied as rigorously as in most cases (this is essentially what Richter said when he passed the baton).

No doubt that Pell deserves jail time. Probably more than he was sentenced to.

If it goes to the HC and gets the same result then you can't say that any more.

Whether it does or not I dunno.

All you have to do is raise reasonable doubt about reasonable doubt and it all falls apart...

Except it didn't this time.

I'm also acknowledging the possibility that the AFL might retrospectively overturn the Brissy and Geelong results coz of the incorrect frees and grant us a finals spot.

True. I think the dissenting judge has probably given the defence team the impetus to go to the HC.

LOL, the High Court is not going to overturn the Chief Justice and the President of the Court of Appeal.

Umm, we both believe the guy deserves jail time. No need to bring out the straw men.

Actually, I don't believe he deserves jail time if he didn't do what he was accused of.

He's been accused of lots of stuff and didn't get fitted up on that did he? Why fit him up on this? And let him off other stuff?

He's a nonce mate, don't stray into Bolt territory, it is deeply unbecoming.

Yeah. I think they probably will.

It won't be popular. Even if he is innocent I'd still laugh in his face if he got convicted.

He knew exactly what was going on and whether he was a member of one or not he used and protected those pedo networks to facilitate his rise thru the church and he knew they were extensive and went all the way to and thru the vatican.

Its what I reckon anyway. No way he didn't. He knew everything that went on in Melbourne.

Look, I think that he probably did do at least some of what he's been found guilty of, and that's the basis for the conviction. I'm not calling it a fit-up, either. But there's reasonable doubt.

I don't know how he's escaped sanction for all the other stuff. I suppose the cover-ups that he engineered have been mostly effective.

I stated up front that I'm no Bolt fan. I rarely read his stuff because I can't stand him. But just because I don't like him doesn't mean I conclude that he's 100% wrong every time.

Agree entirely with this.
