The world is an amazing place with video footage
I am currently uploading mid 90’s and 00’s VHSC and Mini Dv to create digital movies...tedious and lengthy
The days not so long ago when video required hardware and cassettes

An interesting conundrum regarding the redistribution of bushfire facebook donations that was intented for the RFS:

I've probably said that eight times on this the other thread.

We used to regularly do HR burning in August. The last 3 years have seen section 44 fires - local state of emergency declarations - in August.

In 2017 one was 4 - 5 months after cyclone Debbie brought severe flooding rain at the start of April. One of the worst floods in historical memory. 10 years earlier we'd be still struggling to get a good burn in August after a flood like that.

We've made thousands of dollars ourselves from donations this year. Just at our brigade level. We legally have to spend the money on fire fighting needs.

I don't think we can even donate it to actual relief funds.

We here in Gippsland are VERY fortunate to have the Gippsland emergency relief fund. its been going for donkeys years and is a continuous fund, meaning it has the capacity to start handing out assistance pretty much straight away rather than waiting for ages. also because its scope is reasonably wide there are no issues where you end up with a pile of loot and nothing to spend it on. I was dissapointed that after the black saturday fires one of the fund had a whole lot of money left that had to be spent of stuff like putting playground equipment and park benches in fire effected areas just so they could spend the remaining money. GERF only funds people that need help. www.gerf.org.au

thats where i donate.

The only countries I think I haven’t seen homeless/begging is New Zealand, Singapore, Germany and HK on the streets; (that’s not to say there isn’t poverty there.)

Where I have seen begging/homeless is India, USA, UK, France, and Italy

Most agressive were Las Vegas on the gang ways.

Most passive was Varanasi India where a line of women had saris on the ground begging for grains of rice. The line stretched 200-300 metres. Every time I eat rice I think of that despair and will freeze rice for left overs. That was 20 years ago.
India and USA daylight, other countires is the order that i have experianced beggers.

in india its an industry, in the US these is hardly an intersection in a major city that doesnt have homeless people living on it.

Has anyone read this book? The exact same people who were employed by the Tobacco industry are now being used to deny global warming. The exact same people. They’re not even trying to hide it. Crazy arrogance

Historians Naomi Oreskes and Erik Conway explain how a loose–knit group of high-level scientists, with extensive political connections, ran effective campaigns to mislead the public and deny well-established scientific knowledge over four decades. In seven compelling chapters addressing tobacco, acid rain, the ozone hole, global warming, and DDT,

It’s not the point. It’s about these people that are literally the same people that are hired to sow doubt

Mate, marketing and P.R. whores are all around you, and in every aspect of society.

They're also in that film clip you just linked.
