It is funny that they finally admitted that it came from the lab.

a) wrong thread

b) no one has 'admitted' it - it's still far from confirmed. Different US gov agencies have done their own independent analysis. Some US gov agencies think it's plausible. Others still don't.

c) even if it did end up being true, that doesn't mean people who speculated about it with no evidence were 'correct'.

you could argue this is the correct thread given how "random" one particular posters posts in the covid thread are!

No, you don’t get to rewrite history.
Both the gp-120, gp-41 and genetic sequence CTCCTCGGCGGGCACGTAG have been known for a years.

This is what I want! Fuuuu

We moved last year from Frankston way to the foothills of the Dandenongs.

I wanted to go further out and try and get a couple acres but a) the good lady wife doesn’t want to farm and b) way out of our price range.

We settled for a third of an acre which I’m happy with for now, but one day I hope to end up with a lot more.

a) don’t care

b & c) please

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to our 18yo Westie named Woodley a couple of days ago.

He had some health problems during the last couple of years but really went downhill this past week and let us know that it was time. Absolutely devastating. I'm gonna miss him so much!!
I feel for you. It is devastating to lose a furry family member. 18 years is great, but doesn't soften the blow. They leave you with only good memories when they cross the Rainbow Bridge, so hang on to those.

I worked with Roy Dodd in the late 80's and early 90's. An absolutely ripping fella, as calm and down to earth as anyone I reckon I've ever met. I heard a more graphic version of the exact same story, which as a young soldier was an awesome story, but I was also very aware of how recalling the story made Roy angry and sad, melancholic but animated. His face, his eyes gave away the harrowing impact. I never knew the bit about not hopping on the chopper though.
He's the soldier in the middle of the three standing on 21C

Yea a loyal dog is always a sad loss. As much as its a heartfelt time dont discount getting another little buddy because the companionship they offer is hard to beat.

Are any other Melbournians here totally and utterly sick of this city?

Feels like since we reopened after COVID the worst of everyone is coming out. Just this morning I had a lunatic follow me home and try to run me off the road because I dared obey the speed sign in a school zone (I set my cruise control at the exact limit in these situations so I don't get intimidated into speeding and risking a kid's life). It's a bit of a straw and the camel's back moment.

This is like the fifth or sixth incident in the last few months (hey maybe I'm the common denominator!) where someone has done something absurd either to me or another road user that I've witnessed all because they wanna go 20+kph over the limit, or can't be bothered waiting, or are too arrogant to allow people to zip merge. Feels like everyone is extra agro with the traffic and construction mayhem.

And that's just the tip of it. There's more people sleeping on the streets than I've ever seen, more people impatient, more people miserable and perpetually outraged, more people super highly strung, etc. The roads are unusable for six hours a day, public transport is packed and unreliable. Housing unaffordable. To me it feels like if you're not a pretentious rich w***er here, you're a dero and I'm meeting fewer and fewer people who fall into the normal, nice person spectrum.

Not sure if I'm just noticing it more or if it's actually on the increase but I'm genuinely feeling my mental health affected by this city.
Alternatively possibly you just had a period where you saw people in a better light than thay actually are. Theres a good reason why we live out of town. You have touched on many of the aspects i dont miss.

Like this little guy we picked up this morning?
Same breeder as Woodley and we just couldn't say no. No name as yet

Just had an attempted home invasion (mistaken identity, all resolved now) and police still haven't turned up 60 mins after the third 000 call, 90 mins after the first. This is fkd.
I'm glad it ended well, but in fairness they've been busy looking for about 25 North Melbourne footballers who went missing this afternoon.

Christ. Cant rely on 000 for immediate attention.

How did you resolve it?
Before it got irredeemably bad the bloke they were after walked out of another house down the street.

I would've thought multiple people shouting violent threats and trying to break into a house would've been high priority but obvs not.

I honestly don’t know what id do if I was in the situation you were in.

Regarding the emergency 000 line, they are completely inundated with unnecessary calls. Its ****ing crazy what they deal with. One of my cousins worked at the call centre and you would not believe the amount of unnecessary calls they get, everything from prank calls, people that call for basic appliances not working, broken TV’s, flat tires, Uber eats not turning up, obviously mentally ill people that call multiple times every day, the silliest thing you can think of, people call.

That’s why they’re advertising the non emergency number now, but it still doesn’t help.

It’s not the fault of the 000 & first responders, it’s the people that don’t understand the system. It’s especially hard if they are immigrants and don’t bother learning. That sounds bad I know, but it’s the truth.

I dunno man, just not turning up to a group violence situation against innocent people in their homes is pretty diabolical. Whether it's the system's fault or whoever triages it I don't know, but it's just not right that everyday people are put into situations where doing the right thing (de-escalating, calling police, letting cops handle it) is potentially worse for them.

I don’t know either. I’m just telling you how it is.

I do know that the first responders wouldn’t have just been sitting around having a cup of tea tho.

Outcome Themanbun ?

Funny. Was going to respond to your post from a couple of days ago. I usually hit town 3 or 4 times a month and went in early yesterday with Mrs.H.as she had a Vic.Uni.thing.
By 11.30, couldn't wait to get out. Anybody know a nice little country town needs a Kinder teacher ?
