Bayles hey... Funky little spot in middle of nowhere but on way to everywhere down that way. Sort of like 5 ways with a fauna park! Thats the thing about the swamp, with all the drains the road network basically runs between the bridges.
And a very convenient dunny :) After a game of footy, a beer and a heap of water, it's perfectly positioned just before halfway! Actually a bloke I play footy with is from Bayles.

Down like all you want you smug *. The same goes for you, unless you’ve personally lost a business you should shut the * up as well.

I had friends whose parents died to covid.
I lost my job during covid.
I'm sorry you shut down your business but to suggest that businesses failing is worse than people dying you're simply out of your mind.

Good spot 👍 Retirement ?
My mum and my nan were born in the house I have there. I always wanted my daughters to spend some time there while they were young and they are getting older every year, if we don't do it soon we never will. Pop renovated it 100 years ago but it needs some love and care again.

There's a whole side of my family they've never met who live there as well. It'll be a good place to retire tho (in a decade or two) given how insane the weather is getting here.

Yes lots of people lost loved ones from covid and other illnesses over that period. It was terrible. People dying alone and not allowed to have a proper funeral is terrible.

I never suggested that a business getting destroyed by the lockdowns is worse than someone dying, if you actually read what was written you’d know that.

It’s just ****ing annoying when people that didn’t experience losing their livelihood, have an opinion on it. It’s poor manners and lacks empathy.

Personally I’m going ok, but I know people that lost everything, and my goodness, I would never even consider saying to them, its for the greater good, because they lost loved ones and their businesses.

shinboner spiggs heard the bigfooty fill in for your cricket team was an absolute menace with the ball a few weeks ago

I found some real-life political dress-ups.

I worked with someone who eventually became her advisor, and he reckoned she was the best boss he ever had. Pretty interesting biography too.

Speaking tangentially of things related to Canberra, I’m pretty sure Bentspoke Crankshaft is my favourite reasonably accessible Australian beer. (He says quaffing said ale in a mild euphoria as the sun falls over the escarpment)

When I saw this there was this strange wetness on my cheeks

So many amazing memories at The Tote. It has been the beating heart of Melbourne’s rock n roll soul.

I hope it can continue but fear it will be lost.

Damn. I used to live above a shop on Johnston st, just on the other side of Wellington street around the time they tried to shut it down last time, there was a massive protest and it stayed open, hopefully that happens again.

It’s too iconic to be turned into apartments. The actual building is structurally knackered though.

Sad. Those of us growing up in the 80’s and 90’s will remember the awesome live band scene we had in Melbourne and some of the great venues, Bell st Rock, The Palace, ET’’s, Tottenham Hotel, The Prince upstairs Bandroom and many others that memory escapes me. Remember seeing a very up and coming The Living End at the Metro of all places. A mate had came over late on a weeknight dragged me out of bed begging me to come and see this cool band. Wasn’t surprised they kicked on a bit. Would follow bands like The Models, Angels, Kids in the Kitchen, Pseudo Echo, Rose Tattoo around town. Fun times.

Yes, and I used to love scouring the gig guide to map out the venues we’d be hitting each night.

Not just metro but the regions had a pretty healty live music scene as well back then, Royal Hotel in Droun always had top Melbourne bands on public holiday weekends, saw boom crash opera, jimi the human hocking and josie jason (RIP) , hoodoo gurus and a raft of great acts over the years.

checkout the attached video @ 4:30 for some awesome call and respond riffs.
