RANDOM DISCUSSION THREAD I (Season 2008)

Have kinda taken this off from some of the other couple of club boards, but it looks like a good idea, what has been the best thing to come out of 2008.

• The emergance of some very good youngsters in Lonergan, Riemers, Neagle, Myers,
• The emergance of Hille as a genine A grade ruckmen
• Monfries really showing some promise as a hit up third tall,
• Lloyds reinvigoration up the ground.
• Welsh's career defining move into the midfield,
• Ryder starting to become a permanent at CHB.

Any thing else that our grand old club has unleashed this year, that we are pleased about. either on or off field, in the future or in the past, anything guys and girls, this is an open thread. vent your frusterations put your feelings out their.

I think considering our injuries we have made some upsets! thats all I really care about I wish to see Gumbleton, Neagle and Dempsey play next year though.

-Maybe we all gave up on Monfries to early. (Still only 21)
-Maybe some us of us gave up on Welsh to early.
-Maybe some of us gave up on Lloyd too early.
-Hille is better than we thought.- Wish we had two of him. Most games have two disctinct phases for us. When Hille is rucking and when he is not.
-Reimers and Lonergan are better than expected.
-Houli is as good as expected
-Wish Dempsey and Gumby could stay on the park.

I always thought these two had a place in the team But I'm happy to admit I was wrong about Lloyd.

Lonergan, Jetta, Houli, Hislop, Davey. Loved what i have seen from these guys bring on 2009.
Michael, Johnson, Johns, Rama, Pev, Laycock(my namesake) have or will retire or be delisted/traded
Paddy Ryder has set himself up at CHB this year but personally i really dont think we will see the best of him until he is released forward to a wing or roaming hff, has enormous playmaking ability and would just love to see him use his flair for creating play.
This one may be a little from left field but 1 guy i have really liked the look of is Tayte Pears, imo has class stamped all over him, any thoughts?

I agree with this - I really liked the look of him when he was playing. Seems very composed for a young man. Perhaps a little forgotten by people this year after injury. Like to see him grow maybe 3cm more to be ideal KPP size?

Where is henry slattery with in his football, will he hold his spot, and make it his own, or not really, am just asking, he seems to go through the motions at times, although, backing into a fevola knee, i gave him so much more respect than I had previously.

I think slats has copped a raw deal from our supporters he sacrifices his game almost every week and does a pretty good job.

The most pleasing thing is our pace ohh when we have our side back Houli winders davey dempsey lovett jetta mcviegh nash and co all look so dangerous.

And wait till we get Lucas back properly big things around the corner provided we get a bit of luck injury wise.

I didn't think Lonergan was going anywhere with his football. I thought he was good in the NAB Cup but I didn't think he'd play more than 3 games this season. Then the little fella just charges into the best 22 with an all-mighty thump. Great story this one and I'm so happy to be proven wrong with him. Did anyone else have similar thoughts regarding Sammy before this season?

yeah, i am really excited about the next year or 2, with the younger guys really showing a lot of promise,
