I was just browsing the hawks site on here to see how omeara is shaping up . Came across a group of hawks fans discussing who their whipping boy was going to be now that Hill had gone . The actually had three nominees and they couldn't decide which . I was trying to think, I don't think we have any whipping boys now. I know we have had them in the past but I'm pretty sure none now. Do you think that's a fair statement with our current list ?

I was lucky enough to have done FIFO work in my early 20s which has set me and my family up.

Just got to find a nice balance, with everything.

I did my back about 12 years ago been on a disability pension ever since . My wife had to quit work to stay home as my carer so she's on a pension too. Very lucky that my mother in law has left the house we have been living in during this time to my wife and me . She passed away before Christmas. Wife's brother who treated his mother like shit has now decided he wants half the house even though his mother said specificily that he was to have none of it , he is trying to go to court to fight for it . He thinks because we can't afford a lawyer we will just give in . Then he will sell the house and get half the money . We have a battle on our hands . I'm scared my wife will have a break down if we lose , I might too because we will have not much money and won't be able to afford anywhere. It sucks . I'm not asking for any money , just good wishes from you saints supporters to another sainter who's doing it rough at the moment.

Please don't confuse wifi with mobile data. I have to explain the difference to my family 3 times a week.
The NBN is frustrating, because they've rolled it out to country area's but much of the city still has ADSL.
Surely it should go where demand is higher first.

Should clarify. She us a book keeper working from home and plugged into the main site. She has to spend around $300 per month for 4g mobile so that she has enough speed to get things done.

Yeah i agree the single income can be real tuff for some familys mate.
Im lucky as im on a pretty good wage.
But yeah when the wife stopped working after the latest bub was born its a massive difference financially to be on the one wage with a house full of kids.
I guess im lucky cos my wife and i arent real extravagant type of people. Having a family bbq at home with a few relaxing frothies or spending time watching our kids do their sports/hobbies is usually enough for me and the missus to be happy.
When we got our house yrs ago we didnt make the choice of buying a McMansion and having all our money tied up on a house.
We have a modest house which isnt fancy but its a real ' home' for us and the kids.
So im not living in a huge house our driving around in a new car but as a family if we ever want to go out or buy something we can cos ive only got a small mortgage and i own my cars so im pretty comfortable i guess.
Im not having a crack at anybody with a 5 bedroom house with 5 dunnys who drives around in a brand new Jeep. Good on them if thats what they want.
Might sound a bit wanky but im all about Family, possessions arent as important.


But with 3 kids id love my own bloody toilet though

I've actually just moved into a mcmansion 18 months ago, but still did it on one wage and we can still go o/s once a year or so depending on where we go.

We choose to not go out every weekend (I doubt my 2 year old would get into the pub anyway) but it's all about balance. Choose what's important to you and set your life around that.

I've got a secure income and an awesome super fund so I'm comfortable with where I sit.

Oh, and I have my own toilet.....

No stress mate. I got where you were coming from and couldn't agree more with you. Like you, my mrs and I live quiet lives with few extravagances. As long as your family is fed, clothed, have a roof over theor heads and are loved you're doing your job. Everything else is just window dressing. I came into money when my old man passed. That, and a really small home that we were in prompted me to upgrade. Believe me though, I checked my budget 1000 times before we committed to make sure we could still live our lives. The Mrs is now back working casually and life is going swimmingly!

You can't choose family, even when you would like nothing more than to drop them off a cliff and cackle.

Unless it's in the will, the brother gets nothing, we went through a similar thing with my mothers brothers trying to write us out of the will for a block of land we have % of, but as soon as the will stated that my nona left things to my mother who in turn left things to my old man, the threat of court trips and time sinks evaporated because they knew there'd be a counter claim for costs, reimbursement for time and for being a dick, because that shit don't fly on my mums deathbed and their position wasn't that strong to begin with, so their advice said to not go through with the claim.

All because they didn't think we had a copy of said documents, nor seek legal advice on position and counter claims.

What I'm getting at is, entrench your own position on the matter, ensure that you have options available and you'll be able to glare across the table at said brother and grin. You won't even have to then go to court, as it'll be settled outside, if you have the documents that state the brother gets nothing in relation to the house. But good luck man, is a shit scenario to be in when family decide to try and screw you.

Super laws are the real eye opener.
For parents of adult kids with super, they will search for a dependent .... any dependent.
1. Adult children are clearly not dependents under the legislation.
2. If grandpa has a 6 month fling with someone even if they don't move in together, she'll get the lot.
3. Preferences on the superannuation are taken into consideration ( ie they don't count for shit ).

You can nominate your estate or anyone you like. If they find a "dependent" the dependent will get it before the nominated person/estate.
So there is half a chance the woman who delivers meals on wheels will get it before the adult children.
