Any word that isn't in the Greek language you just have to say in English with a very Greek accent, lol. Really I'm not too sure. I think stavro#4 is also Greek?
I don't think there is a word for those to my knowledge. GJD23 is right, pronounced in English surrounded by a sentence of Greek is the way to go.

Seriously man, that's what got me through Greek at theological college! So many of the words I had to learn were obviously just copied in English, especially in medical and science words. I was set once I realised you just swap υ for y a lot of the time: ie, γυνη = gynaecology = women. Done. :thumbsu:
Haha yeah I was going to say anything science related!

So, I guess I'll just Helenise the English, and chuck an iota on the end, like with the words for other cutlery? Something like σπλαίδι and σπλαίδια for the plural? What do ya think m

I'd just say the word in English, most Greeks will do it that way - like if we're saying the name of an event or heck even a footy club, you'd say your sentence in Greek followed by the word in English.

eg - "prepei na pame stin Trevor Barker Oval na vlepete ton St.Kilda Football Club"

Something like that

Wow! You know it's a big news day on the Darling Downs, when in their 2 minute segment they announce, "Sydney Swans player Dan Hannebery, is going to abstain from taking any type of alcohol during the season". For crying out loud.

Check the post under yours. The correct way is definitely English in a Greek sentence.

I like that it was followed by comments that "it made him a better bloke".

I must be the bestest bloke on the bloody planet at 12 years running.

Australia's indigenous folks don't get to display much cultural pride, as someone who has an indigenous cousin I can vouch for how much these things change the self perception of so many people. A lot of Aussies will crack the shits about it like they did with the AFL kids doing it but I love it.

Spot on. But they not only change self perception. They change everyone's perception

It has taken 100 plus years for the NZ haka to become what it is today. People in NZ laughed and jeered at it for a long time and it was performed mainly by white men who, in the main, did not have intimate knowledge of Maori culture. And it showed in their limp renditions of it.

This war dance if kept around, will be perfected and improved and perfected again. And when it becomes something that Australian men and women of all colours start performing in greater society at sporting and social events it will have helped to heal Australia in a big way. As it has NZ.

Buck Shelford put the foot down and thankfully changed all that.

AFL says they've done what they can to curb gambling advertising. That's like the US saying they've done everything they can to curb Israeli settlements right before giving them another few hundred mill.
Sorry AFL but you could easily stipulate how much gambling advertising is acceptable in your media deals. Easily! What rubbish, and good on Wood and Taylor for speaking up about it. Hopefully some Saints follow suit. Drives me nuts on SEN too. If clubs and the AFL can't make money without gambling and pokies etc, all the glam of the modern game doesn't count for much imo.

Loving the King Gizzard and Murlocs suggestions. Very 'Aussie psychedelic' like Tame Impala (one of my fave bands). Anyone got similar suggestions?

Try some of the bands that invented Aussie psychedelic punk rock like Lime Spiders and The Scientists.

So, it being Valentines day yesterday I decided that I would do my civic duty and trek ice cream for an ice cream social lunch at work with the females in the team. What with being a senior member kinda guy.

Strike one as nope, no dice too cold.

So I try again today because it's there, in the freezer and hey, it's ice cream so at least it's tasty. Right?

Nope, strike two.

So I had ice cream, by myself, and it's now back in my freezer.

I then got invited to dinner by one of them next week, knowing full well it's about 100km on a work night through Melbourne traffic.

All the single guys trying to be polite....

I was watching an old highlights dvd with a bit of Leigh Matthews in it , and can't help but think Jade Gresham is very similar to him , but without the size yet. I'd just like to know whether the oldies in this forum , who seen more of Leigh than a mixed highlights dvd , think there are similarities

An interesting comparison but really the two them are quite different.
I doubt Gresh will king hit a Geelong player behind play or knock over a behind post.
But I do see your point re Matthews goal kicking and play making.
Hopefully Gresh shares those characteristics rather than Matthew's less desirable attributes.
